How much content does this title have?
I played the original Super Hot, and while it's not a bad game, I find it far too short for the price. Each level lasts a matter of seconds in most cases, I finished it within an hour and a half, and it didn't hook me for replay value since most levels aren't complex enough, or interesting enough, to really encourage it. In fact, if I hadn't gone secret hunting (which turned out to be equally disappointing) I could have actually refunded it on completion. I found it fun, but I consider it a proof-of-concept or even a prototype rather than a full game.

So, Super Hot VR has 'rave' reviews and people are calling it a great VR game. But when most VR games are light on content as it is, and the original was arguably light to begin with, and it's my experience that VR reviews tend to be blinded by novelty before invariably moving on never to touch it again: well, when the 'most helpful' review is from someone who played less than a whole hour, I have to ask: just how much content does the game actually have and is the survival mode a reasonably compelling offering.

You might say, "Why not just ask that last question, what's with the longer post?" To which I'd reply, if you are the type of person to read more than the post title before leaving a response, you are most likely the person whose opinion I'm interested in. I like Super Hot, I just refuse to justify 35$ on 1 hour of content and while I want to try this, I want to know exactly what I'm getting into before making a purchase.

(and no, the Steam reviews are not useful in this regard. I know VR is novel, I want to know if the game is any good and how much content it has)

I have 8 hours in and just beat the main section. Now there are a bunch of challenge modes. I wish there where more levels

I essentially beat the game (I say "essentially" because for me there's a bug where the very last "prompt" at the end of the last level doesn't show so I can't continue but I digress...) in about 2 hours. However, consider that in Superhot VR the game only saves every ~4 scenes... so basically to beat the 4th scene in a sequence you'll redo scene 1 a bunch of times, scene 2 a bunch, scene 3 a few, and scene 4 once. So when people say there's about 2-3 hours of content in Superhot VR it's a bit misleading. There's <1 hr of actual content, which is what makes this title a bit of a steep purchase $/hr wise.

Edit: due to the afore mentioned bug, I cannot comment on the Survival mode or factor it into play time of course. I will say there's little reason IMO to repeat Story mode scenes given how you have to repeat and master most of them anyways due to the rogue-lite progression of the first playthrough.

Hrm, that was sort of my experience with the original. It may lack any rogue-lite features, but the levels weren't exactly compelling enough. I mean, don't get me wrong, VR -definitely- adds something, but does it add enough to justify the lightness of the package?
Not enough weapons. It's sad because the non-VR version has a bunch of weapons.

I've never played the original so I can't comment on whether Superhot VR is a unique enough experience to justify a purchase. I will say that the one good thing Superhot VR (from the content I was able to experience) is that it had me sitting for cover shooting over crates and generally completely immersed in the content feeling like an action hero.

However, there were many negatives to the overall experience: I found the suicidal references disturbing in VR, I was constantly frustrated at having to repeat scenes, I punched a wall at one point and had a narrow miss with my monitor another because the game is not built to respect users' available play spaces, I found the melee weapon throw physics annoyingly inconsistent, and then there was a game-breaking bug that prevented me from completing the game.

I picked up this title at the 25% off on Steam; if that bug ever gets fixed I think it's an overall worthwhile if pricey $/hr purchase. At the 60% Oculus sale I'd say it's definitely worth. Full price? I don't think it's worth it $/hr-wise, but I guess it all depends on the individual. Personally, I think this is one of those titles better tried at a friend's for a couple hours but I had no such option sadly.

I finnished the game 100% in 13 hours, but it's an excelent party game. The feeling is worth it trust me.

Just like most VR games, this doesn't have a lot of content. BUT, like most VR games, they're designed ot be enjoyed with more people at parties and such. It's a challenging game and you'll have fun taking turns trying to pull off cool kills.

Get it on sale.

Thanks @Nick, that's what I was wondering. I grabbed it on sale, paying full price for any SUPERHOT is not recommended, and I appreciate you adding that tidbit to the end. It's not that the game is bad, it's that it's bare bones and unambitious, and coupling that with threadbare content... well, it's not that I think it should be free, I just don't think it's worth anywhere near twenty dollars.
