any DEV comment highly appreciated
@Dharker.
Ref - the augment about other platforms. If they release the VR version on those "other platforms" after they released the normal version. Then yes, totally, those players should get the same loyalty.
Other big games (that have sold well).. and then released massive update, or different mechanics with the same game. Were rewarded for their loyalty from the devs, "FREE."
ie..
Skyrim - to enhanced edition. "existing owners" = Free.
Div original sin to Enhanced edition (Fully voiced,) MASSIVE content update "existing owners" = free.
But even if they dont follow this "real" loyalty model.
Then at least follow the likes of Dark Souls 2, to DARK SOULS II: Scholar of the First Sin. which had a 33% price drop for existing owners.
Which still sucked if I'm being honest, as it was the same game just with "new mechanics"
AKA Very hot to Very hot VR.
And then we come to the exact comparisons...
"For existing owners of these and more titles"
🌌 Project Cars - went VR = FREE.
🌌 Subnautica - went VR = FREE.
🌌 Elite Dangerous - went VR = FREE.
🌌 Lunar Flight - went VR = FREE.
🌌 Table top simulator - went VR = FREE.
There are more but I think I have proven the point.
They were / are the same gameplay, just with VR support added. Enabling a "VR version" of that Same game.
@Neroes with all due respect.
Oh I see now...so its because...
✴ Super hot, is an FPS shooter, with crystalline type mobs, that splinter when shot, hit etc.. And the game revolves around a dynamic that time only moves when the user does.
Whereas, the other version is COMPLETELY a different game insomuch as....
✴ Super hot VR, is an FPS shooter, with crystalline type mobs, that splinter when shot, hit etc.. And the game revolves around a dynamic that time only moves when the user does. With VR.
Yes that makes perfect sense, and is utterly (no spin) justifiable.
Also.. As far as the other games being the same.. They really aren't.
🌌 Dark Souls had extra level content too. As well as placing, and mechanics, etc.
🌌 Div SIn, had gone through a whole massive upgrade with every single line in the game being fully professionally voiced, and its a storied RPG with a lotta lines.
🌌 Skyrim had the whole engine changed, and all the upgrades that bought us.
And every VR title had been re-jigged to perfectly suit VR.
So Superhot VR with.. VR, and a few different lvls, is no greater deal than most, if not any of the aforementioned.
This is not about being a different game.
Because if it was. It would not be called "Super hot," with the exact same gameplay.
It is about a devs decision to charge to buy it, OFC,
And then to recharge existing owners with some spin about it being "another," or "whole different" game.
I say this with zero hate. (maybe a little irony in the first line, it was not directed at you Neroes)
I am just stating facts.
I'm only buying the VR version now if it's deeply discounted somehow for owners of the base game. This could have been a DLC, too.
So its pretty fair.
https://uploadvr.com/superhot-vr-hits-htc-vive-thursday/
"And to make the launch even sweeter, if you already own the original non-VR game, Superhot, then you get a discount on top of the launch week discount as well."
And I quote...
"Vive owners — rejoice!" <--- Really??
"The teasing is over as one of the absolute best Oculus Rift with Touch 2games we’ve seen so far is finally releasing on the HTC Vive through Steam this Thursday, May 25th. The standard price of Superhot VR is $24.99 but it will only cost $19.99 during the first week of release."
(End quote.)
25 dollars. (20 pounds) Are they kidding..!
Which is as expensive, if not more than MOST VR games.
Remembering that they have already been paid twice for this game. (yeah as well as the exact same game, but with a few more lvls, and VR implementation.)
1, On Oculus store.
2, On team with None VR, and now on here. at a whopping 25 bucks.
But that is not the travesty here.. The real travesty here is.
Existing owners get 20% off taking it STILL to 19 dollars.
Is this a joke?
So unless this...
Quoted from "KirUn" above.
"And to make the launch even sweeter, if you already own the original non-VR game, Superhot, then you get a discount on top of the launch week discount as well."
Unless that "sweetner" is another 75% off, this dev is really taking the proverbial.
Where is the loyalty❓ where is the reality.❓
And..
Exactly how many times can you sell the same game to the same people for "literally" Top Dollar.❓❓❓
Remember all ... ALL the other devs who realised that people had already bought their product, and so they made it free. with VR addition..
Oh Brother.
Thx! sad you have to search news pages for this though ;)
Lets hope and see how big the aditinoal discount will be :P
Then they decide to go oculus only + you have to buy the game again. Realy? So if you want to play buy it on oculus and revive it.
Now they come out with Vive version and we have to buy it again? For what? 2 hours worth of gameplay?
I realy hope that there is extra gameplay for Htc Vive users not just a transfer from oculus as I remember you couldnt even walk around there. If there is not you guys just turnet into lazy, moneygrabbing "EA" style dev's. Noone likes that.
Instead of an update
It will be another purchase. Wouldnt surprise me now.
