[Nightmare BOSS] Cannot damage after multiple dream worls

I've been reading guides after guides, upgraded everything, using recommended mods and killing as many mobs in the dream world as possible. Then i come out and start shooting his head, then I get 20k damagem but his health bar moves like 0.5% every time after multiple shots. i cannot fathom how this is fun...

I have to go through about 10 dream sequences and killing 10-15 mobs every time and he still doesn't even have a qaurter of his health bar down.

Every video/Reddit I see people get this done in two or three dream sequences. Is it bugged or what?

You need to kill at least 10 enemies but more is better as each one is a damage multiplier. You then then have a limited amount of time to do enough damage to force the cage around the Dreamer to open. Only then can you do any real damage for a small amount of time. Typically 3 sequences is enough to kill the boss.

If your never getting any real damage then its down to two factors. Your either not getting a high enough multiplier or your not damaging the boss enough in the limited time window to open the cage. Some weapons and mods are vastly better at burst damage and its this you want to get the cage open. Once open burst damage again is best because you only have a small window.

Since your damage is multiplied some mods more or less instant refill on use due damage done. The two fireball type spells and swarm are very good. Any fast firing weapon will also do good damage.

I have tried fire types on both weapons and they never set him on fire. And i do kill 10-15 of them every time. Yet when i come out, I get 10k-30k damage depending. however, I can never get him to actually lose health. Like a 20k shot and 45k fire damage explosive thing (can't remember the name) doesn't even make his health bar move down visibly.

I have to rinse and repeat this process of dream world, 10-15 enemies, shoot him until I do no damage. Gave up after several attempts of getting to the 5th or 6th dream state and still not even having done 10% damage to him by the end.
