Twisted Idol is good but only if you plan on using some high yield, very heavy armor.
I would take the trait first as the idol locks your amulet slot down
Unless you plan to play with the idol of course
So the one I should choose is going to stick with me for quite a while.

In you case, take the idol, unless you already have 1 that is better
The trait will be mostly useless to you as you likely wont upgrade it before you end the game
