hardened carapace dropped once and wont drop again

im spamming corsus adventure mode and making a bee line for the red beetle and every other time ive killed it i get scrap, is it bugged or am i just unlucky? ive killed it like 6 times now and i havent even gotten any rings either. i just want my carapace armor man :(

Hardened carapace drops from the black beetle. The red ones drop 2 rings and 1 amulet.
Don't know whether they've changed it, but previously you could only have one hardened carapace on you at time. So if the one you've found is still in your inventory, better go hand it in.

does the black beetle spawn in the same place as the red ones in hall of whispers dungeon? im holding a opalescent shell too should i turn that in?

Yes, it's random, sometimes is red, sometimes black. you can hold the opalescent shell, both are different materials. There are beetle rooms at Strange Pass, Hall Of Whispers and Needle Lair.
