How Do You Beat Nightmare?

I got the game on the Epic Store since it was free and I've been stuck on Dreamer/Nightmare for a week. He's super easy to fight but the issue is is that unlike in the youtube video guides, which I went to after running out of resources multiple times throughout the week where I got fed up and looked online for a guide. I found out I was doing the fight correctly TO A TEE, yet for SOME ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up reason, the Dreamer does NOT take bonus damage when the Nightmare's chest opens up for me. I repeat, I am NOT getting bonus damage on the Dreamer when the chest is OPENED.

Does anyone know a way around this because I can only go through the phases about 8-9 times before I run out of resources then die. Sure wish the Devs would fix their damn game honestly. Only thing I'm thankful for is that I don't get the stuck in the dark area indefinitely bug.

strange i dont have the problem with nightmare/dreamer but when you want i can help you to kill him

Maybe the latest patch broke it. If the chest opens then you are killing the enemies in the void so it sounds you are doing everything right. Maybe wait till DLC drops, there should be a patch then and hopefully it will fix your problem.

I don't have patience but you could buy a stack of ammo boxes and equip the healing aura and try to take him on. It would be ungodly slow tho.

Oh I already have haha. I make it through about 8-9 repeats of the phases before I finally run out and die. It's super fustrating to say the least.

Use Swarm on him in nightmare phase it'll bust his chest open in under a second.

i did it today, worked like it should.

(hard difficulty, in coop with crossplay, me on steam and friend on epic)

we stayed in the dimension until 1-2 elite enemies died, then we gone up, shoot on chest until it opens and then big damage nuke, 2-3 times the whole process and done

ofc you can stay even longer down there and kill it in one cycle, but most new players are scared of the damge down there, and my friend died multiple times down there so we decied to go the slower but saver way

for breaking: fast weapons like beam rifle works better than slow weapons or you can use the swarm weapon mod, which helps alot because of multi single hits in short time

I remember trying the Sporebloom on his chest and him somehow not taking damage, so if you're stacking enemies, opening his chest successfully and still he won't get damaged when you hit the kid himself, it's probably bugged. It worked when I tried a different weapon, but it was kinda weird to see it.

Unfortunately it's just not working for me. I break open the chest all the time but the numbers I'm getting at less than 100 damage with Ruin on the chest while it's open.

Also good to know that Steam and Epic can play together :D

Hm, I haven't used those on him, but if you want, I could hop in and see if my guns work there. Considering all the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sentience codes and computers have, I'd make a wild and unknowledgeable guess it could even be a bugged save file.

Make sure you aren't using the Burden of the Gambler ring. I found this one out the hard way after not reading the item text propperly.

Huh, that does make sense. I imagined only weapons had their weakspot multipliers, but I guess I never gave much thought to how the high numbers in Nightmare were achieved.

UPDATE: I finally fixed it. Don't know what was causing it but I exited game, loaded it back up, same issue, so I then joined my friend's campaign, killed the boss which worked normally, and then did it in my own campaign and boom.

Don't know how it fixed it, but it did. XD
