How Do You Beat Ikro Boss on Nightmare Difficulty?

Faced that giant rat wizard ten times now. Who's arguably just a reskin of the Stormcaller boss Gotten wrecked every time so far. My character is at trait rank 720 now so I have most of the traits. Have most armour sets and most weapons. Using the Beam Rifle with Veil of the Black Tear and Sawed Off Shotgun with Wildfire Shot. Still can't get him much past half health.

Any suggestions? ...And please, don't just say: Get Gud

Crit build probably
tommy gun, radiant set, something with fan of knives, polished whatstone or anything, swarm definetly. Use the spiceroot potion and the pristine elemental one + 1 hours buffs

I don't really play on that difficulty, but I did find that boss pathetically easy with the Curse of the Jungle God. Launch the tentacles at him, and since he doesn't move, they just pummel him to death. And the tentacles heal you, so that might boost your survivability.

I was using two sets of the labyrinth armor (mod damage) and one piece of the elder armor set (damage boost on using a dragon heart). Gaelic charm, braid of thorns with devouring ring. My weapons were the machine pistol with song of swords mod for damage boost and the assault rifle with hotshot mod.

Before entering i took the pristine potion for +15 (i think) elemental reaistance plus the anti freeze potion the name of which escapes me.

After entering I immediately bank left and take cover behind the first barricade and wait for him to finish spawning the ice orb. Once it is spawned, unload on the orb and strafe left and right behind the barricade so his ice attacks don't destroy it. I was able to destroy the ice orb no prob without the barricade being destroyed.

Switching to machine pistol using song of swords, using a dragon heart, then switching to AR and using hot shot mod. Unloading on him while circling the arena.

Repeat strategy each time he spawns an ice orb. Had him beat by the time he spawned the 3rd ice orb.

But yea... I found him a bit of a pain at first.

I only did him on hard, but I noticed that you can prevent him from spawning the Orb of Ice if you hit his weakspot hard enough. The window is kinda small and I had a sniper rifle crit but it might be worth to try to hit his head as soon as he starts conjuring it

I was using the Hunter set but switched to Bandit. Even tried Labyrinth but gave up on first try with that set.

Devastator, bloodletter's insignia, and sprint sideways while stopping every now and then to take shots to recharge the mod. Standing still in this fight is quite possibly one of the wrongest ways to approach it, for me. It reminds me of when I'd see people with a hunting pistol spamming backwards rolls while taking down the hollows in Earth's sewers one by one instead of embracing a mild risk and spamming melee attacks instead. Strafe-spamming in Ikros is both more fun and more effective.

Two of my friends and I stacked the black tear mod and just alternated using it so it was up 100% of the time. We were on Nightmare and I dont see that as being possible without this method.

The methods are really good, but if this boss still bugged af.... XDXD
