Houndmaster Control Rod
So what exactly do you have to do to get that thing that is stuck in his face? I killed him twice now.

First time I killed the Houndmaster first and got the Collar but not the Control Rod/Cube.

The second time I killed Alpha first and got nothing but scrap.

Do I have to talk to Houndmaster first, then leave him and go to the Merchant and talk to him about the Houndmaster and the Robot infront? Like, is there conversation triggers I have to abide by? Then go back and kill him?

Im out of ideas...

Focus on headshots. If you did it correctly his face will be sparking on death.

Uhm, I laser'd him to death.. in the face. With the beam rifle. So, idk about that man.

I should've backed up my saves... :(

Did you exhaust Merchant guy's secrets before you killed the Houndmaster by any chance?

What I did is speak to him first and then shot him in the head. I think he died instantly, then I killed all the dogs. Got the collar and the control rod. Don't know if you have to do anything special to get it.

Then I killed him first. I died. I re-entered and killed the Alpha (the guy was already dead/disappeared). I got both the collar and the cube (or whatever) at the end of the 2nd try.

Yeah I got the jist now from the video. Thanks man.

I'm insanely lucky though. Apparently the "profile" save is your actual character (his gear, traits, resources, money etc) and the "saves" file is just your campaign's progress.

So I'm actually able to fight him again now without having to play through the game again or get lucky with open sessions by just putting in an older save and replay just a couple of minutes.

Good times. :P
