Getting a lot of Unreal Engine crashes playing the game.
Unreal Engine is consistently f'ing on me, seemingly at random. Sometimes it'll happen at the start of a session, sometimes it'll take over an hour, around 20 minutes in is not uncommon.

Error is "Unreal Engine is exiting due to D3D device being lost."

I've seen fixes for other games online, creating a registry key to increase TdrDelay, turning down your overclocking. I've also tried lowering resolution from 1920 to 1600. The issue became much more common today, I was able to get through almost the entire story before this started happening. I started playing a lot of online public matches today and the crash went from occasional to a 100% occurence, causing me to leave all my sessions via game crash.

Is this a common occurence / if it is are the developers aware? My Graphics Drivers are up to date, I'm running a 980TI. Was thinking about maybe trying a previous driver version

Gentlemen, I've had the same issue, none of the methods, suggested on the Internet, haven't halped me out. BUT. You try verifying the game files, I've turned out to have one missing, dunno how - but upon reinstalling the file, my game has started working again! No crashes since then

Started happening to me after the latest patch I think. I played around 25 hours before that and didn't have a single crash.

I find that crashing for me occurs when I am in an open area like the downtown area after the toturial. I managed to get passed it after a couple of random crashes, then I had a fine run in the sewers without any trouble and beat the first boss. But then I crashed consistantly trying to either activate the checkpoint crystal at the foot of the large tree with the plan perched onto it, or ignoring the crystal and trying to talk to the NPC living in said plane. I'm only 3 hours in and I'm just gonna leave the game be for a few weeks I guess, hoping it gets fixed.

I don't think its the Overlay man - i have overlay on and no crashes.... Try Fullscreen mode in Video Settings - it's not on Fullscreen by default

I would just like to add I am having the same exact issues. Constant crashing. Where are the crash logs so I can send them in?

I have 64 GB of Ram, 1080ti, and on a Ryzen 3900x

Random crashes -- albeit, not overly common nor consistent -- do seem to as part and parcel of the 'Remenant' experience, as terrorism is in a big city (~ London mayor, Shadiq Khan).

This is error specifically is related to DirectX can be fixed by forcing the game to launch in DirectX 11. Which you can do in the properties of the game on steam.

I figured out why mine was crashing and it had to do with firewall and permissions so now am finally playing the game. So if you crash and get an error that reads like one below check your windows firewall and make sure the game is fully allowed.

Why would that cause crashes and how can you be certain it's your firewall that is crashing the game?

I reinstalled the game and so far so good, but I'm nervous it'll crash at any moment. I disabled Nvidia Overlay, going to try the firewall, and direct X 11. :x

To be honest I've been worried that it's my new ryzen 3000 Series processor because I've been having a lot of strange issues with it lately and I know since it's newer there are some Kinks to work out. For instance Monster Hunter world is crashing every 30 to 40 minutes and I was having some power plan difficulties where it wouldn't let me change the power plan off of balanced. And to top it off I'm not hitting my 4.6 Ghz boost which I heard is a common issue right now and my vcore voltage is running high which is also common...

I have the exact same issue, had one reply from dev's so far. It may help others, but it hasnt helped me. Sent in a DXDiag they asked for and currently waiting on a reply.

Please try the following:

1. Try closing any and all third-party programs that are running in the background. Those known to conflict with our games include: RivaTuner Statistics Server, MSI Afterburner, and SteelSeries Engine 3 software.
2. Pause/disable your anti-virus software. Unfortunately these can sometimes be overly sensitive and block the game or Arc from starting properly.

I generally launch the game once a day to see if there are any changes or not. Some days, like today, I played for around 10 minutes before the game crashed, yesterday, I played for about 2 hours before one happening. Iv cranked all settings down to minimum and tried different resolutions, including fullscreen, windowed ect. I will try turning off GeForce Overlay to see if that helps, as it seemed to help OP, but yeah, dont know what else to try. My setup really shouldn't have any issue running the game, so I just really hope this can be fixed asap =/
