How deep is the lore in this game?
I love the enemy and world designs of this game and I want to learn more about them. Is there a way for someone without the game can learn about the twisted creatures?

Rhom has fairly decent lore in it, Yaesha however feels unfinished and even the main story didn't feel "complete" to me. But we are getting more content so both may be built upon.

And Corsus just kind of exists

Edit: TLDR: Not that deep

ex - similar game - hunted the demons forge had a nice lore representation ( world / creatures ) !

this one has very weakrepresentation - plain text books which are not very in depth !

So no enemy lore?

It's as deep as your trigger finger.

Never played it myself, but I hear there's a prequel to this game called "Chronos". Might shed more light on the story here.

Earth has a decent lore. It all goes downhill when you leave Earth though.

This game is a spiritual successor to Chronos, an Occulus exclusive RPG. To get a better understanding of the story in Remnant, you kinda need to know what happened in that game. A lot of people mistakenly think this game just had random gibberish written notes trying to be Dark Souls, but that's not really the case. Everything pretty much calls back to Chronos, even the ending of this game. Chronos reminds me of old PSone RPGs where the camera is fixed in each scene where you move your character around and find items and notes to progress, like Parasite Eve and Resident Evil 2. So in that game there were notes, puzzles and computers filled with lore much similar to Remnant.

There's quite a bit going on behind the scenes, I think, but the devs clearly decided that since they were going for a co-op focus there was no point in having lengthy lore explanations. What happened on Rhom is fairly well explained if you poke about a bit (though I'm not sure if the Undying King caused the Root invasion by using the Guardian to become immortal). Yaesha is a bit confusing since different sources point to both the Ravager and the immortality tree as being the world's Guardian, though it may also be the Many Faces idol that the Stuck Merchant has messed with.

Quite a lot of the time there are missed opportunities to expand the lore, most notably the Akari you meet at the beginning of Rhom who stays there but doesn't react to the death or otherwise of the Undying King. Likewise we never seem to find out what the Iskal Queen plans to do with the Guardian's heart. Most disappointingly we don't get to do anything much in Yaesha's rebellion (and Ellen has no dialogue to reflect that you've met and rescued her Grandfather)

These are understandable corners to cut in a second-tier title and the game is still very good and playable, but they're cut corners nonetheless.
