Leto's Armor
I've found this armor to be incredibly useful if a tad gimmicky when compared to other armors. What's the best way to use it in your opinion? I've been going into it as a straight up tank for multiplayer with the extra stagger hammer. I can keep aggro on me with certain rings, and the +armor effectiveness gets me into the 500+ range, though I am unsure if there's diminishing returns.

The only issue is the dodge roll turns into a dive. It's frankly hilarious as it can oneshot most small ads if you dive into them. The dodge step is actually more useful since you can charge up a melee leap with proper timing.

What's the performance of a Leto focused melee build on hard mode? I assume it's about as good as normal with just a bit less tankiness.

Given that I'm playing on nightmare, the best way is to just not use it. It barely offers anything useful in terms of defense and the fat roll ruins a lot of times when there needs to be a semi-fast dodging to prevent the player from getting hit. The damage bonus I can get from scrapper, and the stagger reduction from mantle of thorns.

I've been messing around with a Leto build in Hard for a while now. With Twisted Amulet I think the armor is nearly 700, and using Bands of Castor/Pollux lowers the encumbrance to just Heavy so you at least get to fat roll.

You lose the hilarious dive, but in hard I found that to be too gimmicky and not very effective. And besides, neutral dodge is great but not perfect for every situation.

It obviously works really well for melee because of the rings boosting melee speed/damage, that hammer works well but I've also been using Butcher's flail because I can often be tanky enough to get in close and land a corrosive proc. It's super fun to melee elite units to death as well by going straight into a charged melee counter from neutral dodging their attacks.

Because all of this feels like some kind of paladin tank I've been using Song Of Swords and Veil Of The Black Tear as weapon mods and playing a support role. I just picked up Howler's Immunity though so will probably swap out Veil for that since there's a lot of melee-heavy dungeons & bosses.

Because of the tankiness I'm also usually the last player to go down (well... most of the time) and wind up reviving the team.

This whole setup would probably eat ♥♥♥♥ on Nightmare, and can suck at times solo Hard because of the lack of ranged damage, but at least on Hard multiplayer it's fun.

Edit: lol two Sterlings

Sounds about right for nightmare. I couldn't imagine fat rolling on there. Seems like it's geared for a normal/hard playthrough.

I've yet to find the counterpart ring, but I'd like to see what it does when I do. Right now my setup is Twisted Amulet, Aggressor's Ring and Leeching Ember. I'd like to try Riven for the extra leech, but so far the Petrified Maul is hilariously effective.

My weapon setup is a Typwriter with Flicker Cloak and an hunting pistol with Howler's Immunity. I've considered The Undying for the singleton revive, but that removes my primary mod so it always feels extra.

there is a amulet that reduces weight and two rings when worn together which do the same. If you equip both you can medium roll and no stagger means you won't be faltered but a melee attack and possibly avoid further dmg fomr any consecutive attacks. it lacks on higher difficulties but the 15% dmg to enemeis attacking you is quiet nice and you get it for only one piece unlike the other effect which you only get with all three pieces.
