You can do this fight naked. All you need to do is dodge.
What does take some getting used to is the weak spot change. Having it be on his butt rather than his face makes the fight take much longer especially since you don't get as many chances as I'd like to target that area easily. Really only chance for that is when he's going to retrieve a hammer.
If you can do it naked, what is the point of super heavy armour? It barely mitigates damage anymore with the DLC and nerf to all res and the restriction you get on dodge are just not worth the "benefits" you get in return...
When you enter his hut immediately veer right and go down to the basement. There is a pot down there you can interact with and hide in.
There are also rings that bring up evasion length I think also, which might help a it maybe try light armor for faster dodging or even Mudtooths red drink and that health ring that gives 25 health since the hammer is not actually a instakill at least not on hard
I did it with hunters armor for that weakspot dmg on that big old butt
And my point is to explain to you that some of the fights are just impossible to deal with heavy/ultra heavy armours. Just try the Iskal queen or the Unclean One alternate kill with heavy... Their attacks have random speed paterns and if you are unlucky and they decide to make 2 quick attacks you don't get time to recover and you die. I'm playing mostly on hard, and even with the Leto, the Unclean One can OS me with some of his moves. But unlike light, I can not chain dodge his combos.
Armour, in its current state, is a useless stat, it needs a serious buff to compensate for the lack of mobility caused by weigth.
Also look at the queens position for first phace she announces her attacks. Second phase menders circle gave me all the time in the world cause her follow ups are quite slow. When she rears up menders circle shoot as normal. Again rolling isnt needed regular dodging again gave me the iframes and time needed.
Letos armor helps in the queen fight or even a flicker will help. I personally did it in cultist armor. Also dont forget greenleaf before entering the queen.
Lastly the queen is very weak to one element but that is spoilers good luck.
Now. I DID manage to beat it after respecing all my points and making a dedicated tank build (which at least let me survive 1 strike), but even then I still needed a friend to help me and we both spent that combat resing each other.
There is another problem with this fight that I didn't mention before. It takes a long time between deaths just to get back, and that just leaves time for patience to ware thin. The checkpoint needs to be closer to the door.
It's not meant to be blanket advice for everything, but it is what this boss was designed around. There's no adds so we put the emphasis on avoiding for this fight. You can absolutely wear Leto's in this fight, especially if you neutral dodge more or use Leto's Amulet (or the 2 new rings that reduce Encumbrance together).
He definitely is more of a 1 or 2 mistake fight, depending on the difficulty.
