Flicker Cloak nerf
Flicker Cloak

Increased Power Requirement from 1250 to 1500

Reduced max shield percentage 150% to 100%

Reduced Duration from 60s to 10s

Ignores basic impacts (but not damage) for 0.35s on startup

DEVELOPER COMMENT: Flicker Cloak ended up being much stronger than we anticipated. The original design was meant to be a reactionary lifeline – ideally, shield up and then escape to heal, or to revive an ally (both while ignoring interruptions). With the massive timer length, it ended up being less interactive and an easy/permanent damage shield that more than doubled the player’s health. We reduced the max value from 150% to 100% (still 2x), increased the power requirement, and reduced the duration. We also made it uninterruptible by basic impacts so if you have health, you can always cast it.

To call this a nerf is an understatement. Its a destruction..Not happy with that.Simple feedback.

Appreciate the feedback. Look forward to more once the patch is out. Personally speaking, I still use Flicker Cloak in my support build because I can't be interrupted while ressing. =)

This is just forcing you to try other mods.
Taking it down to 10s is really nerfing, would have like to see reduced to 30s

I still use it. It has some excellent utility. We will see, however!

Maybe balance around what players like instead of what developers like? Nerfing builds and items in a PVE game is really discouraging for a lot of people and it's happened a lot already.

I personally say flicker cloak was extremely OP before. I think it needed this nerf so its less of a "welp im immune to dying for the next minute" button. I used it when I just wanted to mess around and walk at enemies and just smack them in the face with a melee weapon without a care in the world

Give it 10 more seconds so that we are at 20 secs and im happy again :)

Did you see most of the patch notes? That's exactly what we did. No one asked for a "press this button to not die for an entire minute" option. People DID ask for more variety.

This may be an option. We aren't done and I'm sure we will make some tweaks as people try the new and old stuff. Nothing is set in stone!

didn’t destroy it

flicker cloak still has extreme amounts of utility, you just have to time it well instead of being immortal

nothing wrong with the devs balancing to make mods more active and less brain dead

I guess it was nerfed in the same way the as the other mod that used to last 60 seconds. As both mods were just set a forget mods since their duration was so long. The difference being the other mod had its cost halved when its duration was half whereas this mod had a cost increase, a 83% duration reduction in addition to a 33% strength decrease.

Obviously it likely did need some tuning as was an extremly powerful mode defensivly.

I agree that the duration should potentially be higher than 10 seconds. My reasoning for this is that my expectation for the mod is that i would be using it to increase my survivability in a difficult section at it would be preferable that the sheild is broken due to damage as opposed to just running out.

My idea for a setup more similar to the previous version of the mod would be keep the cost increase.
Revert the strength reduction
Set to duration to 40 seconds
Have the shield that is given be a decaying shield that decreases over the duration.
You can limit the stagger immunity to the first 10 seconds so it matches with the current changes.

That would make it as exploitable as it is now. The uninterruptible part isn't what makes it so strong. It's the 150% health for 60 seconds. We will monitor it and see how it goes. We aren't done! =)

Honestly i've never used flicker cloak.so I really can't comment but one thing I can say is the devs have always tried to balance the game to the point where anything is viable and nothing is meta, As hard as that is they did a great job I hated playing destiny 2, Diablo3 or any other loot based game and having to run the meta to be anywhere near decent. The extreme variety in which GG has done with this game is nothing short of amazing.

That being said looking at what Flicker cloak was and what it is now doesn't really seem that bad. it reminds me of rhino's iron skin on Warframe which was a stupidly broken ability even not modded out for. the nerfs seem justified. though since they reduced the duration so much i'd expect to see the power cost lowered or at least kept the same.

trust me xD the old flicker cloak was super broken. leto's armor, flicker cloak, guardian axe, and a shotgun. able to just sit there on nightmare gorefist and just facetank him while shooting him in repeatedly with the shotgun and nothing he could do about it

I mean along comes a nerf but also a ton of new items for the Dlc, my guess is that there's more items that can make a defensive play viable. So maybe armor or trinkets that up defence or health.

Having old cloak+ all these new items could make the cloak even more broken than it was.

It's funny, I only ever used it to res a teammate, and it was amazing every time.
