Does anyone know the 'highest minimum' level for areas?
So, from what I've read enemies scale perfectly linearly with your level, making upgrading entirely pointless beyond meeting the minimum level check of various areas.

How stupid and actively detrimental of a game design decision this is is entirely aside, I'd like to know if anyone knows what the highest of these 'minimum levels' is for the purpose of only to upgrade my gear to the minimum required. I like playing around with builds a lot, and from what I know based on how this moronic mechanic works it even checks the gear in your inventory. What that means is if I leveled my active gear all to 15, I'd need to level everything new I wanted to try to 15 as well to see how it actually handles and performs... Which I can already tell could be quite a drag.

So, to avoid that issue, is there any resource anywhere that lists the minimum levels for various areas of the game? I wana be able to collect everything and try out tons of cool builds with out having to spend an afternoon just grinding the mats to upgrade them.

I maxed my gear score and now any area I go into all enemies are scaled with me. So you can't get stronger.

Tried to level up lots and got that gear score up to beat the two bosses at Corsus. Yet I went into that area and they scaled to my level. All that grinding was pointless lol.

I'm off to play some Prey. And atleast in Prey I'm not going to be continually knocked off a dumb narrow bridge due to asinine boss battle designs.

If your making a new character or its your first time playing id suggest only leveling up once or twice to beat the world boss other than that don't level and enjoy the challenge the first couple play throughs are really hard if you don't know what your doing but after that its easier

Nah, enemies do scale, but not nearly enough to make upgrades useless. Upgrade away with no regrets. The scaling only helps ensure you can't simply overpower stuff - there will always be some measure of danger & some measure of skill required. Recommend spreading upgrades over a decent selection of gear, kit flexibility can be a great help.

.
The upgrading system fullfills the function of autobalancing tool to make the game always challenging no matter how long it takes you to fight your way through a certain area. It also helps to balance the game for multiple people in coop and allows players to outlevel a certain area or boss if their skill improvement alone isn't enough to progress. Not saying that the leveling system in this game couldn't be improved but it's far from being useless.
