False. There are multiple build with different gameplay. Also as much as ypu play the more builds you can try and make them worth (including full melee build with shotgun).
Game respecting players time, so more you play - bigger the rewards.
To OP - game have great replayability imho. You might feel a bit grindy at some points, but gameplay process is pure pleasure. With difficulty settings you can have a cakewalk or pretty good challenge. I recommend to grab it and have a good time asap!
The soulish thing is that all enemies are kind of dangerous. The roll mechanism adds a lot to quick reaction and evading shots instead of cover-shooters only. Melee is viable as well to either grind ammonition when you run low or to quickly counter-attack when reloading is too slow.
The semi-random feature is good as well, because you feel more like exploring a level instead of rushing to specific points you remember from previously runs.
And the bosses are fine too in my opinion. Most of them will spawn adds but its kind of necessary in my opinion because otherwise the fights might get too simple. The adds just force you to remove them quickly and to switch priority between boss damage and surviving.
Collecting and crafting are good to keep you interessted in farming stuff and coop is realy enjoyable.
The last thing I wanna do after 2 playthroughs is a coop nightmare run. Hence you see I am not yet feed :-) and would buy it again if I wouldn't own it already.
boss fights are simple, they just spam a bunch of fodder enemies that will swarm you and each hit for 1/4 or more of your health. most boss gear is outright useless, having terrible effects as well as terrible damage. most of the special attacks are worthless. okay, i lied. no. you shouldnt waste your money. theres also no PvP (unless i missed an update and didnt see it), or proper communication. hell even dark souls 2 has voice chat for your summons.
visually its pretty stale. everything looks pretty much the same. armor choices are bland and boring, weapons usually look generic as all hell. youll fight alot of the exact same 4 or so enemies. everywhere you go. constantly. they dont even bother to palette swap them when you go to a new area. the areas all look the same, and the lazy procedural level generation produces the same results that procedural generation ALWAYS produces: a bunch of "random" dungeons that are all identical.
The graphics, sound and gun-play are super-good. maybe they improved the game since you played it last at september.
I have beaten the game twice (once in hardcore) and none of the mobs / bosses one-shot me ever. There is a lot of different gear for different situations and not only the glass-cannon build.
You are wrong.
I'd say grab it at a sale if you have a friend to play with and if you somewhat enjoy souls-like game play.
To everyone else, thanks for the responses, still haven't decided whether I'm gonna pick it up yet or not. Truth be told I'm having trouble deciding between this and a very different game than this, Xenoblade Chronicles 2 on Switch. I can only get one at the moment, so I've been watching tons of YouTube videos on both and I'm so split haha. Has anyone here played Xenoblade 2?
