Will we get the starting sword back?
As the title says, I just want to ask if we will get that sword back, it looked very neat and I think I'm not the only one who wants to use it again.

Devs mentioned they might add a way to get it back

I've heard that there is a complicated glitch of some sort involving messing with your save data that can let you keep it but I don't know how to do it. I think they said the damage is half of the scrap sword damage anyway so it's not really worth it.

Seems like you're underestimating the power of fashion souls, man. Also, the scrap sword isn't that bad.

Yes but unless the devs change it, if I remember right, you can't upgrade the starting sword even if you glitch yourself to have it since you're not supposed to ever have that weapon to upgrade. As such it's damage would fall off very quick once enemies started leveling and you couldn't level your melee weapon.

There is a glitch to get the initial sword, but it needs a brand new save profile, basically you have to restart from zero to get everything else back, I don't think it is worth to try.

You can upgrade it, but it has poor damage.

The glitch isn't really that complicated, the reddit post directions can be shortened drastically.
1. Create a new character and progress till you talk to Ford.
2. Exit to main menu. Alt+tab out. Backup the profile.
3. Delete character.
4. Create a new character without starting.
5. Restore the backup save.
6. Start game.

And if you want to skip Rig's quest to upgrade your weapon to +1, you can do this same trick but progress till you get the D.A.T.L.A., then you can pretty much play the entire game with +0 weapons assuming you never buy from world shops or craft the armor from altars because they come pre-upgraded.
