Why 3 players?
I kinda bored with how shooting games always limited coop to 5 or less players. Hardly any game allowed you to bring more. Most existed actually are mod based or sandbox like how L4D(2) got mod servers with up to 16 players coop, minecraft or CS bot alike. But none of those got interesting RPG element on them or otherwise like I mentioned "mod based".

I know with more players come troubles with accidental team shooting or cluttered vision. But I don't have that problem so far. Especially since it looks like this game has big play fields.

So any chance perhaps this game will have something like "raid" mode where more players allowed in the field?

I read somewhere is because of developers direction, at first they want 4, but somehow they build it in a way that having 4 player will break the balance but 3 isn't

If it is so easy to make one trillion players running around, why dont you make it. Team shooting and bad vision are the last thing developer care about when making multiplayer game.

Too much is no good either. It will lags both from server or players side. I am just telling suggestion based on how big the play map looked in preview.

I like it, 4 players have become a norm for so much titles, its good to see something different. Hopefully this turns out well.

At least not solo. But for a coop oriented games now, 4 are standard, 2 are couch / split screen play, 3 means something and I just hope it doesn't fail.

Well, I am now more focused into the "raid" idea now. So the player numbers in party limit only extends under certain situation.

I heard the reason was, that with 4 players the enemies became to bullet spongie. But with 3 players it scaled better. So enemies can still take more hits as with 1 or 2 players but they don't feel too bullet spongie.

If this is the reason I can live with it and support this decission.

It originally was supposed to be 4 players but they ran into 1 problem they were not able to balance.

Pacing... The game either became too run and gun taking all the difficulty out or the enemies became to bullet spongy taking all the fun out of the game.

with 3 players they were able to balance the game to their vision and pacing.

also you have to think that 4 players would mean bigger map design and more enemies etc. When you look at the videos most randomly generated levels they had were narrow rooms/tunnels... I just hate the idea of fighting for the kill against my co op buddies.

Also when you have more players the atmosphere gets broken as others will try to rush the level just to get the loot

Well, just looking at the game environment.

It doesn't really have to be four or more or less than three depending on stuffs. The question is more like "Do we have any chance to play with more than three?"

On the coop side no, it's locked to 3
On the other side I'd like them to add new contents like a raid/siege/defend event where it need 16-32 player, I don't mind if they go MHW style either, but would be dope if 16-32 exist on same screen and raping the same monster
