Great gameplay, story/ending needs work (spoilers)
They explain and explore so little. The ending is terrible, your character just comes from somewhere over the ocean to save the world and we arent going to elaborate on that at all? And him and the founder are immortal? The characters in ward 13 stop any sort of unique conversation after you clear earth. Wallace (the kid in ward 13) has special powers that seem similar to the root mother, but thats never elaborated on. The founder just sits in that cell forever I guess? What about the immortal queen on yaesha that we never see? The elf queen just takes the heart and thats it? What about the root? What even is it? So many questions they just dont answer. A mild one as well, what about the rest of earth? The part on earth takes place in the U.S.A. as told by mudtooth. Hopefully expansions elaborate on things a bit more, but I feel a lot of this should have been resolved in the initial story. I also used the word "elaborate" way too often.

there's plenty mentioned in logs in the game that never shows up to the player. pc's in ward 13 talk about an ice biome (which some people are saying is the swamp area but their reasons lack in game context so falls under "not explored") a creature that was being kept in ward 13 whom was from said biome and escaped, and portals in the keepers labrinth that just dont appear to be visible. Haggard is also someone not explained very well, we get snippets about him and learn that hes the reason the final boss and root exist but never meet him/ learn what happened to him.

I read all the logs I came across, I don't think a majority of what I brought up was mentioned. I thought he was the reason the root was there on earth, but not the "root" (pun) of it.
Seems pretty clear to me that they're going to add more campaigns to this game, as DLC or otherwise, since there's a list screen when rerolling but with "From the Ashes" being the only current option, not to mention they DO explain a number of these things that aren't intentional cliff hangers set up to hint at those future campaigns- via computers and journals scattered about the game.

For example, one log in the W13 basement says France nuked itself to try and kill the root.

from what i understand, Haggard is the one who hooked the dreamer up to the root causing its spreading the way it does, we also learn form the item you get from singes tail that he communicated with dragons without telling anyone. Ford is under the assumption that he is the "root" cause of it all, but never explains it to us.
As for the root itself, i can only theorize where it came from, but we know ford had no intention of it becoming the "root" we have now.

The storytelling is a 1/10. Interesting concept, but its execution is utter crap. It would have been a better game without the story. Like we never got to know who WE even are! Travelling by boat from some strange island, and bringing with us a sword that is completely unique in the world we play in? Who the player character is is the biggest mystery, and it's completely ignored. So many details that are completely ignored.
Making it a pure grinding game with just a small explanation of why the world is like this etc, and then just letting the environment tell the story would have been far superior.

It was rather disappointingto never get to fight the Yaesha queen after all the build up they did for her XD

But yeah as pointed out when rerolling your campaign you get to choose from the ashes so Im assuming they're working on that stuff :P

In all honesty the game is disappointingly short, and the story is shallow crap. The devs would have been far better off crafting a single, cohesive, campaign and just making it *good*. We know pretty much ♥♥♥♥ all about the bosses, the worlds themselves, or anything at all really.

This game apes some of Dark Soul's worst aspects.
