Game doesn't actually pause when you press pause it.
Title explains it all. If i'm in a solo game i should be able to pause it. But no, i can pause it but monsters can still come up and kill me. Wtf even... Please add an actual pause option for solo offline play.

Sit at a shard if you need a pause.

Maybe sometimes i dont have the time to dilly dally my way over to a shard for a pause. It's 2019, this should be some basic stuff for any game.

You haven't played many souls like games have ya?

As long as you clear the mobs in your vicinity you should be good. No need to run to a shard. Just back track a little and try to position yourself out of enemy sight.

Hasn't failed me yet.

If you have time to game, you have time to dilly dally. If you have responsibilities before your recreation. Then you're breaking the number one rule of recreation. Work before play.

Are people seriously trying to defend the game not pausing in solo offline mode? If anyone has a single good reason for the game not pausing in solo I'd love to hear it, because I don't really think there is one.

Yes, you can sit in areas you cleared and not worry about enemies finding you, as they never respawn. And I've never had a particularly big problem with it not pausing personally. But if people are actually trying to say the game simply pausing would hurt it in any way are being absolutely ridiculous.

Solo offline should have actual pause. Anything connected to the internet = no real pause.

Lol probably never played a souls like game at all

Because there is no pause button? Reason enough for you? There is a menu button and an equipment screen.

I'm not going to say "no pause needed" but It would only be use-able in offline and out of combat.

its something that could be added much later not big on the list of things to be added. looking at you no ranged melee weapon comon weres the spear with a chain :P :P also @Grundge is right as long as you clear the area and also not in line of sight of a pathing enemy you will be fine afking its not going to spawn a elite on your face.

If there was a pause button it would conform to your casual ways

Remnant isn’t “soulslike”. There is no death penalty, the RPG and combat mechanics are vastly different.

That being said, i dont think this game ever marketed itself as being pausable, but i think for offline solo players it would be a boon. It doesnt have to try to be Souls because its it’s own thing.

"Why isn't XYZ in the game?"

"Because it just isn't there."

Are you seriously telling me that is "reason enough" for somebody? Your answer is pointless to the question asked. The question being why, not if you can.

This.

The only reason you don't "Pause" in Dark Souls is because it's pretty much an always online game. The game was /meant/ to be played online, where you can frequently get invaded and summoned and have blood splatters semi-live update, etc, etc. This game has none of that. It's strictly PvE, and the mobs don't even patrol their zones enough to warrant a lack of pause because "it's always gonna be dangerous." Nevermind that not being able to pause isn't what made Dark Souls a Souls game, much like how difficulty didn't make Dark Souls a Souls game, and people convincing themselves that "lul just souls-like" are being stupid. I genuinely hope the Devs didn't put it in because "lul just souls-like," either, because that's just misunderstanding what made DS DS. It's a lot more than "Difficulty" and "User Unfriendly."
