Does it get better after Gorefist?
I'll say this first because I know it's gonna get brought up, I'm not the best at these types of games, so you can hold the "git gud" comments, thanks, but that doesn't mean I'm not willing to beat my head against the wall for a few hours to get past something.

I just want to know if the levels and bosses get better after this? Like the sewers were super weird. Before it you fight nothing but jobbers that you couldn't die to if you tried, and now in the sewers you have these swarm guys who are also fairly easy, but then it throws some deer-skulled prick behind me that basically oneshots me or a gatling fella that melts me. Being blindsided by those seemingly out of place spawns kinda put a bad taste in my mouth for the first boss. I get the point of him, dodge through his charge, fill his back with buckshot and use his suiciders against him, simple as can be. But getting stuck on every corner and getting hit by Gorefist's sword through walls coupled with eating an attack and either taking around 30% damage or my entire healthbar depending on how the game feels is just really frustrating and makes me feel more like I'm being cheated rather than losing on my own merit.

I'll admit again, I'm probably just salty and need some more muscle memory, but my question still stands: does the game get better? Not looking to trash on the game, I want to enjoy it, so I won't be getting defensive and just saying "blah blah this game sucks," if you guys have tips or anything I'm more than happy to listen. Thanks.

Play until the end of earth and if you still don't like it then drop it.

It may seem overly difficult at first but that's just the learning curve.

The game is hard but not impossible, keep upgrading your kit, also you can get others to help you through hard bosses on the friends list option.

My tip is to start a new character, pick the Ex-Cultist for the mod generation trait, and play other people’s worlds as soon as you unlock the ability to do so. Don’t even leave Ward 13 in your world if you can avoid it. Play other people’s worlds to see if you like it-then jump into your world with your now higher level character and gear and mods and see how things are. It will be harder than your first character’s starting world but you’ll also hopefully have a lot more mods and weapons to provide options to make it thru.

Having even one other player makes all the fights much, much easier even with scaling.

Assuming, of course, they aren't totally new to the fight. Even then, most people can figure out how to rez you even if they can't pull it off.

If you mean 'better' as in other bosses with way more challenging mechanics than Gorefist will come later, than yes. If that instantly fills you with dread, no and you should probably refund.

If you get past the first few bosses, especially with friends, you'll probably get addicted. Better to avoid spending so much time in a game, I suppose.

Also, this is great advice. It's exactly what I did.

I'll repost my first impressions after around 10 hours of gameplay from another thread shamelessly:

'For me, I played around 10 hours now and today my mate started to play DS1 for his very first time. I stream-watched him play that game for 8 hours while not being interested at all in continuing Remnant - if that answers any questions.

It's not that I think it's bad, it's that I think it's boring. Remnant is mechanically sound, graphically adaequate, the setting is somewhat fresh and yet it's boring me to death.'

It somewhat reminds me of 'Hellgate: London' in that regard.

I don't mind challenging mechanics, idk just Gorefist seemed more like I'm fighting the arena and his jobbers than the boss himself, you know? But otherwise solid advice on you and everyone else so far on this thread, thanks guys!
i'll say that the bosses generally get harder than the first boss (but wont have exploding adds if thats a comfort for you).
however you wont encounter enemies like the dual sword guy who will pop up behind you in the sewers.
personally i liked the 3rd (swamp) and 4th (jungle) world more than the others

In most of the boss fights there are add phases you will need to also fight. Solo that magnifies the challenge a lot more than when you have two or three players and it's pretty clear the content was designed with coop as a core mechanic.

You CAN solo the game, it's just harder and will require more effort. Some people are into that, and some people aren't. The one's who want to solo are the one's you'll usually see complaining about 'lazy boss design' and 'boss add spam' IMO.

Coop, the add's aren't really a problem and can give much needed ammo if you don't have top tier equipment. If your whole group has top tier equipment, boss fights are pretty trivial on normal.

It really forces you into hard mode or nightmare at a certain point and I like that about this game. It makes me want to break out of my comfort zone, and gives me enough equipment to support a variety of styles. Not everyone will be into that though, I guess.
