Why is this game so popular?

I am genuinely confused on why its popularity exploded so hard.
I don't have anything special about my personal tastes, and i usually end up liking anything that is in the top charts on Steam. This game really confused me.

I watched a lot of footage from streams and videos about this game. The gameplay itself looks and feels like less detailed and polished Warframe gun gameplay. I am not just talking about status effects or traits/mods or whatever.

So what gives? Maybe i am missing something.

It's really different from Warframe... certainly not a comparison I'd make after 40 hours in Remnant vs. 100-odd hours in Warframe. Combat is more weighty, enemies are more deadly, gameplay is a bit slower-paced. The gameplay loop is similar to Dark Souls as is the loot system. It's just... fun? Everything works really well together.

Want to satisfy that 'dark souls' itch (game has that dark souly type vibe i suppose.
It's a pretty cheap game.

It's nothing like Warframe. I still don't know how people compare both games. It's more like Dark aSouls/Bloodborne/Hellgate London mix.
To your question, the gunplay, movement is top notch. Levels are nice, it's a challenge even on normal difficulty. Boss fights are great at the most time. Multiple dungeons. You can upgrade, forge gear and weapons. Overall, especially for 40 bucks, it's a very good game.

I have almost 600 hours in warframe and you can't compare the 2. That's like comparing COD and GoW. This game is fantastic for the style of game it is..

It resonates with a number of fanbases I think. It has Dark Souls elements. It has call backs to Hellgate London. It has some rogue-like elements which have become popular lately. It has sort of a diablo-meets-guns feel to it. The trait system is very rewarding. I can see how people would think it looks like a weird warframe. but it's not. This is evident when you start playing it. Warframe, you're building certain classes. Then you're building weapons, then weapon mods. It progresses in an entirely different way. You're also, clearly, not space ninjas in Remnant. Your character will move like a rock when his/her endurance is gone.

For me and a buddy, we are huge into the Soulsborne genre. We like that challenge. But we also like the story and design of this. Vastly different tilesets as things go on. Rewarding exploration. Lots of options when it comes to gun/mod setups. Satisfying gunplay and hack and slash.

Yea, Remnant kind of barrows from the influences of many other games. But it does a great job doing it. It's very addicting because of that.

for me i just like games with a challenge and this does that nicely the other parts of the game could use improvement but it works and i dont regret the purchase

Imo if anything the game should've been compared to Immortal: Unchained which did it's own attempt att making a dark souls 3rd person shooter.

Got the game with a friend yesterday since we both are souls junkies, we had a blast with the game, the setting is quite nice we listen closely while approach like a 2-man swat team in an apocalyptic world listening if there's any mobs around the corner in the next room. Great fun! You even can get punished if you let yourself develop tunnelvision and not paying attention of your sorroundings.

its a good game for one plus its new and if i get what you mean by plays like warframe but once you get your hands on it youll see it isnt this game is more of a dark souls/borderlands type game except more percise movements imo

I will admit the game is a lot more fun to play than watch. Which goes for a lot of games I'm sure, but y'know. Give it a try for yourself.
