Forged Iron Does Not Drop.

I've upgraded every item I have as far as it'll go, every weapon and every armor piece. Even the starter armor. And yet, no matter how far I progress, (trait rank 66 now) I still can't find forged iron anywhere. I'm starting to wonder if I'm bugged? Do I need to get past Rhom?

I never got any until my second play through, I feel like I was trait rank 150+ before I seen any. Anyway I thought what you thought but it did start dropping.

Seriously??? You sure your not confusing it with Hardened Iron cause i have like 600 forged iron lol. As far as OP Goes i think i started seeing it in Rhom I dont honestly remember but i didnt even need to upgrade other crap just what i was wearing i didnt need to start upgrading everything else till i needed Hardened Iron.

It’s based on item level but it’s not consistent. I had my shop lady start selling hardened at 120 trait level all gear at +15 when i best gorefist on a hard reroll. Some have gotten to level 200 before they even see hardened. Not sure what determines when exactly. If I had to guess I’d say it was armor level gated.

It wont drop in areas that were generated too low.

Basically you need an item in every slot to be +5 and then generate a new area - it should be available to drop or find laying around in that area though somewhat rarely.

Once you start getting pieces slightly higher itll come more frequently.

My character atm hasnt even stepped on rhom and is getting galvanised iron now (playing with a friend, weve been resetting earth for events and stuff)

I see, I'll keep trucking then. Everything's +5, guess I'll just see what happens when I get further into Rhom. I was just confused because my friend, who is on easy mode and trait rank 50, is getting tons of the stuff. Yet I can't even find a single drop :^( Thanks for the help though.

Trait level doesn't affect anything, equipment level do
Scaling: the highest level equipment + 1
Materials drop: average level of all equipment combine

Equipment level is upgrade level
If you have everything +5 then total average level is 5, which will increase drop rate for forged iron

I haven't been paying attention specifically to what drops by smashing crates/containers although it's mostly money, but I've gotten a lot of regular iron from there, so I'm assuming I've gotten a few forged iron as well. Had about 30 total before I spent them. Always smash wooden crates, shelves, vases, chairs etc. Lots of extra loot.

Check the vendor as well in Ward 13, she started selling some after a while.

Yea pretty much your upgrades determine the drop range. I haven't noticed anything with trait level, went to high trait level with no upgrades and the drops didn't seem affected on one character.

If you are missing upgrade items, its best to just join other games and just run through a few maps as they will usually drop higher stuff (Or at least that has been my experience).
