Where do I use the howling key? Where is the Altar of the Black Sun?

I got the key, and now I'm getting so frustrated. I've ran around the Monolith, that huge tower with a checkpoint on it's back, like 5 times. I just can't find anywhere to put the key in, only some stupid puzzle that I read only give you an armour sett (void).

I'm so close to deleting the game, because while I love it, I hate stuff like this where you've filled the map, you've explored it all, but you still have something left to find.

I mean it's much more huge, in the first area. And sometimes that tall stone tower spawns in the first area too.
