Worth it to upgrade weapons?
I read that the game scales the world to your highest weapon level. Is it worth it to upgrade weapons if the game just constantly keeps pace with your highest upgrade level?

In my experience it's worth it. Yes, enemies do scale up with your gear, but not enough to match the difference. You will be better off with +20 that +0.

Also you are going to have to upgrade at least to +15 by the end of the campaign, because areas have a minimum level

Depends. Traits + Mods on top of scaled weapons out weighs the benefit enemies get from the scaling. But if you don't have very many good traits max I think you'll just hinder yourself by upgrading your gear past the recommended level for a zone. If you get +10 or +15 as fast as you can and then reroll, you'll find that Earth is much harder the second time around if you didn't invest in damage boosting traits.

So in my opinion only upgrade when necessary. If you find an area or boss difficult and it shows you are undergeared in the advanced info tab, then upgrade to meet it.

also, keep in mind that areas have minimum levels in terms of scaling, so if you never upgrade anything you will be under leveled compared to the "scaled level" of the areas.

For example, I believe the final boss of Earth is at minimum level 5, so the boss is exactly the same if you fight it with level 1 gear as if you fight it at level 5, so you might as well level up your gear to 5, because it won't have scaled the difficulty any differently at that point.

Also, once you enter an area, it locks the level (until you re-roll), so if you are having a hard time in an area or with a boss, you can beef up your gear to get an advantage in that area (though it will make the next area scale up to keep up with you)

There's also not much else to spend money and materials on. Even if you're splurging on everything, you'll usually have a surplus of cash left at the end.

Might as well keep your best gear, up as much as possible.
Rather than being caught with under performing gear in a certain area.
I think the first run will go up to +10 due do Harden Iron dropping later on a reroll, so you can push weapons and armor to that tier first. Do both at the same time tho, you'll need the extra armor.

Depend on how often you upgrade your weapons, as I already have +19 weapon (the mighty hunting rife) on first playthrough
Thank you for the answers. I appreciate the input.

The scaling only happens the first time you enter an area, and then it's fixed at that level as long as you play in that same world (without re-rolling the campaign). So you can revisit old areas, and be OP against enemies there.

So, yeah, upgrade stuff.

The white diamonds and red or green arrows will serve as a good indicator of how well equipped you are for a certain area in terms of offense and defense. Go by those.

Upgrading does make a difference because most of your bonuses are percentage based. So the stronger your gear gets, the bigger the bonuses from mods and traits.

That said, you should just upgrade what you use as the game requires, up to 15 for the first playthrough.
