How do I obtain Hardened Iron

So I just can't seem to get any of it, I looked online and people said you should just obtain it when you need it. I have all my currently equipped gear maxed but then it asks for Hardened Iron, Ace doesn't sell it nor can I find it in the world :/

The areas you are playing in are not scaled to your current gear.

My guess is you are trying to grind in areas you have already been to before.

The scaling is done only when entering a new area for the first time.

Subsequently, if you return to the same area, the scaling remains the same.

A change in area means passing through a gate and a loading screen.

Alternatively, you can play a Public game where it will scale based on your team's gear but if I am not wrong, it is still capped at host's gear level + 2 max.

Hmm..that's odd.

When you bring up the character menu, and the advanced stats menu, does it show the scaling matches your gear?

If so, maybe try entering a Public Game for a bit then after that go back.

Or set your game as a Public Game and run it with others for a bit.

If it still doesn't work, then maybe it really is a bug.

This game is pretty buggy so I wouldn't be surprised. For instance, my game's Ace is missing after the final boss fight.

It wasn't until I equipped a 15+ level item (8+ Boss) in each of the 6 slots before I started to get Hardened Iron for a drop.

Oh! This reminds me of 1 more possible reason.

The scaling is using averages so if only 1 weapon is at a level that needs hardened iron, it may not raise the scaling enough.

is this your first playthough? bcuz I have news for you, grinding hardened iron on your 1st run is very very annoying, believe me I tried. just reset your world and you will find the material E V E R Y W H E R E

It started to appear for me when I reached character level 200. I´m not sure if this is the key factor.

For me I started finding tons of it when I started my nightmare playthrough.

When I reroll campaign with traits around 250, almost everything that spawned on map are hardened iron.

Whether it was normal or nightmare.

So would using low level gear make low level iron spawn?
I'm having a hard time getting low level iron to upgrade low level gear =/

Keep visiting Ace for the lower level iron if you are running short. Once you get to higher levels she will sell loads of the lower stuff. Buy it all and go out into the world for a little farming and after some time she will restock.

Also equipping low level gear will not work, or at least it never did unless they buffed it.

Otherwise you could put on low level gear and generate a world. Then switch to higher gear to tear them up. The leveling looks at what gear you have on and in your inventory.

get 4 or more gear peaces at +15, go to a new area or reroll and then you will be swimming in it

The scaling is done based on your highest level item in each slot.

So, if you got a +10 long gun but you use a +6 long gun, the scaling still accounts for long gun as +10 in the equation.

It scales off your armor too I hear. Now I only get Hardened Iron.
