Or just, spawn adds yourself. Iron Sentry, Root Caller, the dorito boss mod.
use that mod that takes aggro as a root, its the best tactical tool if you are soloing. Also use a close range shotgun with an assault like weapon for this fight imo. This lets you mitigate burst waves with burst damage and a gradual damage.

Speaking of difficulty walls, any of the Root dungeon bosses on Earth can spawn with infinite rot explosions throughout the arena.

Maul was THE EASIEST boss in the game for me. Just activated Iron Sentinel and spam heavy attacks in melee. Got achievement Untouchable from killing him.
EDIT: I didn't look at the time, so that part is there for style. I have no idea how long the fight was.
*audience laughs* Easy boss, yes. Easy in melee, no.
Not on nightmare...and killing it with 1 HP after you blew the rest of its hp away with a shotgun doesn't count.
Not sure I buy it, but at least someone sees the value in world breaker.
