Only windowed mode available?

So, I just bought this via the Humble Bundle and after installing everything was cool, played the tutorial and after roughly an hour I get a CTD. Well, it IS an old game after all so no hard feelings, but now it only starts in windowed mode and in the comfiguration there is no possibilliy to change it to fullscreen, which had been there, when I first started the game... so what now? I hate window mode, HALP!

you can change it in the Video Settings... Or something to that effect .-.

if you mean the configuration menu available from the steam menu, then no, there´s no other choice other than windowed mode available. The in game video settings give me the choice of resolution (but no 1920x1080 here although it had been available before...) and even if I did change the reesolution there it would just crash...

You have to right-click on aow2setup.exe > properties and then choose to run the game in winxp sp3 mode. Do the same on aow2.exe. It worked for me.

Ha, nice.. A good old game that I played over many years. Modded it hard. Sadly some of my friends got huge problems running it in fullscreen + enabled glow effects ON WINDOWS 10!! I just went to the forums to ask if the steam version runs stable under windows 10.

It's always possible in my experience to get it working, you just have to enable the right compatibility settings on both the main game .exe and the setup.exe, and check the setup has the right options selected (sometimes it spazzes)

Confirmed for me too.

I lost the rest of the resolution options when i switched to windowed mode in order to avoid the double purple screen glitch which happens upon alt-tabbing.

But in windowed mode the upwards pan of the screen by moving the mouse to the edge of the screen didn't work on my machine.

And when i tried to change back out from windowed mode i didn't have the rest of the options anymore. Running the aowsetup.exe in compatibility mode restored the rest of the resolution options.
