Patch 1.5 Released: 1.6 in the works
http://aow.heavengames.com/cgi-bin/forums/display.cgi?action=ct&f=29,5651,,60

A decade after Patch 1.4, Patch 1.5 has finally been released. The patch is conservative in terms of gameplay changes, with many new units and terrain features added for mapmakers.

Triadasoul and some others are modding 1.5 to fix bugs and add even more content, as well as porting it to the MPE mod's superior engine: check the link below.

It should be pretty simple, IIRC it's installed the same way as 1.4. Maybe check in Setup?

I installed 1.5 and it still says 1.4 in the main menu.

I don't remember if they bothered to update that indicator. You can start a game to check - you should be able to make a racially unique pioneer, for example an elven pioneer would have a graphic of being pulled by unicorns, and would have Forestry. or you can load a scenario in the map editor and there should be a bunch of new terrain features.

You should also go into the setup program and check which 'custom resources' are selected.

I have been playing patch 1.4 because people haven't shifted over to 1.5 for multiplayer yet. Maybe in a couple days I will install 1.5 and get back to you on how to make it work

Yep the Unicorns are there ;)

I also noticed a few new Scenario maps called up15

Another issue: The user interface seems to get glitched at higher resolutions. The top trim with the ornamental dragons are getting clipped. Any way to fix that or simply something to live with?

An extra dragon on the right side but nothing on the left. It kinda ruins the nice look of the game.

If you play in Windowed mode, you can actually stretch and expand the window as much as you like without screwing everything up. This also allows you to play fullscreen, and also to alt-tab without bugging out the graphics. So not sure what I'm talking about, I'm no expert. But maybe try windowed mode, for all I know it might solve those issues.

Also unrelated note, but when I went into setup and changed the game from 32-bit colour to 16-bit, it restored a bunch of glow effects and other graphics and made it look way better.

I will to experiment with the windowed option.

Hmm, in my config window I see no options for 32/16 bit. What setup is that? Do you run the Steam version?

Edit: So I tried the windowed version but the issues with the UI was still present when stretching too far. I guess my native res is simply too high.

I forgot, that's actually in the .exe file's properties, not in the config program

@Dino [swe]

To fix the UI issues, go into where you installed the game, And find the Images\Int directory. Replace the "Main.ilb" file in there with this one: (Take a backup copy if you want)

https://dropfile.to/p79HW8P

It fixes the UI bars atleast, nothing else.

Given steam installs a pre 1.4 version, given the 1.5 patch requires the 1.4 patch, there should be a quick link to the 1.4 patch.

Which appears to be:

http://aow2.heavengames.com/downloads/getfile.php?id=661&s=50bf2818498f84fea2c4ed2b6eb84d1e&r=http%3A/aow2.heavengames.com/downloads/showfile.php%3Ffileid%3D661%23

Which is a little unclear since it's described as an unofficial patch

Also, The 1.5 patch triggers Norton on the uninstall exe. Threat Name: Heur.AdvML.C

Thanks for posting the 1.4 link - I assumed most peope had it, wrongly.

false positives for viruses are pretty common, just ignore that

I'm sort of new to the game, I played the original Age of Wonders after it was given to me for free on GOG some time ago, enjoyed it immensely. I have not finished any of the campaigns here, but I wonder is it worth it download the mod and play the campaign with it? Will it change much in that regard? Thank you for your time.

It doesn't change anything for campaign. All new content is available on new maps specially designed for it.
