Its not a hitman contracts moment, thats simply side content so you can get more cash to buy things from the black market shops, the story also ties back to dishonored 2's crack in the slab mission hence billie's eye and arm being void energy because emily ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up the timeline by KOing stilton

Yes surely. My 8 hours are also the story. But what u do is still not based on story. Yes the story progresses with each campaign.

It kind of reminds me of shenmue 3 storywise. A 40 hours game with maybe effective maximum 30 minutes of story. But its not the story only that has shortcomings. Believe me im very tolerant to games.

But what this game does is drag you into contractual non story based missions even in the story based missions. And all of those are either in the same area and most of the time linear. With some occasions like the auction mission which is optional. But even then still just the very same place like the previous mission when u had to picpocket the key.

I know u like the game and thats good. I like dishonored 1 and 2 with passion. But death of the outsider is just to keep u busy.

Assassin's creed rogue is just like black flag to and a huge degradation even graphic wise.
Death of the outsider is huge in space and gigabytes. But its so short. Its a drag.

I wont say i didnt enjoy it. But i get out of that fanboyism bubble sooner or later and say this game is a cashgrab.
the game is really a dlc for dishonored 2 to show as an epilogue to the main story and leading into what i assume is dishonored 3, hence why some of the locations are reused from 2 but with different context

Care to explain? Game is pretty much a contractual game like the very very old hitman. Theres not much to it. Just extra tasks from let us say dishonored 2 expansion.

thats ultimately your choice, but if a dishonored 3 does release and references the events of this game you will be very confused

with sidequels like this one, that rarely happens and is bad storytelling: when you create a sequel meant to both please your original audience and attract new followers, you need to include small explanations of any references to events that directly impact the new plot.

on the other hand, if the events in this game dont have a big impact (and shouldnt since its a "sidequel") in the main story, or only in the story of a minor character, then its usually enough to add a few minor references as easter eggs, or small accidental dialogues (optional content).

I enjoyed it. But its horrible in many ways. D1 and 2 did great it was somewhat like deus ex and bigger. An open world or semi open world with different ways of approachi g. Story wise consistent.

This one is a mission based game like hitman with slightly some story about revenge or atonement. Both endings are lame. And im sure the void is still there in d3

It feels like all the ideas that didnt make it in D2 came into DOTO .. which is ok.. if i where a DLC taht you play straight after D2.. but like this you get into it expecting a stand alone game and just doesnt feel that way.. everything feels weird. Its clearly planned as DLC that somehow someone decided to make it into a full game.

You're not alone in regards to not liking DOTO.

I played through DOTO once and that was more than enough. The purpose of the game felt more like "checking boxes" than anything else.

I still revisit 1 and 2. Great games.
