Oh and i guess there are some salty because of them feeling it's just 'another' token character, which won't be written interestingly enough or something.
Like Dishonored ever had one outside of Daud.
Had this been a full on new game, I'll bet they would have done choice of protagonist thing here too. But it's just a stand alone expansion. And fortunately, if the visual appeal of the character is a hang up for you, playing as them means you probably wont ever actually see more than their hands.
Also, in past Dishonored games, the NPCs have done as much or more of the talking than the player's character, so I doubt Daud will be terribly sidelined by you playing as Billie.
I'm just not a fan of Billie and most of what you've written is just a 'it ain't that bad' - which i agree with. So neither can you convince me that Billie is good, nor that the game will be great - but i plan on buying it eitherway, because i like Dishonored more for it's worldbuilding then their characters/storytelling.
