The graphics are better in the steam version. speech bubbles are more organized. The music has been overlooked. It doesn't buzz. The interface is very organized and easy to access. You can see it especially useful in combat.
I did not encounter any problems while playing on Steam. It was a perfect adventure. This game is at the top of the top lists for me. After that, I recommend you to play Chrono Cross.

I do suggest using a reshade CRT filter though, as the one in the game isn't great.
Thanks for your suggestion, I was using S4W and it is very buggy and limited. I didn't know ReShade is capable of doing this, I saw a video here and it looks great. I'll try!
EDIT.: I tested it yesterday, the filters and graphic quality surprised me. I'm using the default crt-royale.fx settings and I really like it, very nice indeed, my friend. Playing Chrono Trigger on PC using ReShade seems to be the best option, it's everything very convenient because we have the possibility to buy it on Steam. I do recommend it.
The DS extra content was never that great. The Lost Sanctum was awful.
The Steam version has some UI elements that don't even match the game.
This versions includes some things from the DS version, where the PS1 version only had the animated cutscenes included and bestiary and some music scores. All extra stuff other than that was mostly added in DS version.
Yea i always wondered why no one else in the middle ages period did not talk like frog. At least in chrono cross they gave people accents and such, more than just npc's also.
Japanese love to stereotype characters in games and anime (especially back then) by giving them distinct japanese regional dialects, like every other old man talking in Hiroshima dialect and the English localization has trouble reproducing these nuances and the best they can usually do is to turn some characters into thou mode.
Oh like Cyan from FF6 too. I was wondering about that too. Thanks for clarification on that.
LOL..funny.
That's a great video. It help me with my choice. Plus the DS version of the game is very expensive now online for a used copy. Better off with this version price-wise. More so when you can catch it on its 50% sale.
