I never trust rando reviews. The Internet thinks it's funny to hate everything and blow the tiniest things way out of proportion. The people who get paid to do it do a way better job, as long as you understand PR speak. For example "a little grindy" means months of grinding.
There are some kinda valid points but damn people seem 2 exaggerate waaay too much here IMO.
This game supporting proper widescreen alone is more than enough to make it the best version to me.
I still hate the mobile-ish controls and that they cut content from the DS version that its based on, but it's whatever.
Its not proper widescreen. It just zooms in and cuts off the top and bottom giving you less total image on screen. Any of the 4:3 resolutions lets you see more of whats going on.
11 hours in so far and never once I saw 4:3 screens so far, kinda insane from SE of all companies they put an effort to into properly drawing extended graphics for the parts that were only ever designed for 4:3.

Not the best example but it's early game.
Didn't they only cut the minigame thingy?
I heart the extra ending is still there, don't wanna read about it as I'm close to beating the game I think.
I will after am done with my 1st run.
I don't
Jittery sprites should really be fixed it's probably the biggest issue ATM, I got used to it pretty fast but after testing the SNES it is a lot better if it doesn't jitter.
As for screen tearing I never had any screen tearing so far at all, I notice these things right away.
UI Both got ups and downs, personally prefer the new one overall though for people who didn't play the SNES version would probably like this one as well, would've been nice to have some options like the lighting text instead of the thunder icon and being able to change the window color but overall it's pretty good and not terrible as I've read in these forums :/
I sure do hope DQ games gets FF PR treatment or something better, as for Xenoblade on PC as of now that's impossible unless Nintendo changes their mind, which is nearly an impossible task as of today.
Possibly. According to David on this youtube channel, alot of dragon quest games are being remade. Let's hope they come to pc:
