All my key bindings are showing as *

All my key binding are showing as *

They work normally but they aren't showing right. The same thing happens when I get to the Configure Keys screen. Everything is an asterisk.

PS The same thing happened in the game Prey. It must be something with my PC configuration but what?

i'm replying to this because i just encountered the same issue and there doesn't seem to be a fix anywhere, did you manage to fix it? if yes then please tell me how lol
i think it's due to my keyboard having a french layout, but idrk

Never managed to find how it works. I also encountered the same thing in other games from this company.

I'm pretty sure that the keyboard layout has something to do with it however because in some other games I've seen Greek lettering showing in keyboard configurations or UI aids on screen.

In Bethesda games, they don't support Greek fonts and they show as asterisks. I just don't know when it decides to show English and when it shows asterisks. It seems totally random.

Hey Bowmangr, I'm also from Greece but I 'm replying in English for people to follow the conversation more easily in case someone knows a fix or something. The asterisk (*) problem is something that I 've encountered many times in different Bethesda games. I had the same issue in 4/4 Wolfenstein games and in Doom (2016). This is the first thread that I come across to even mention the issue.

It's pretty annoying especially because (in my case at least) it's always random. Sometimes I launch Bethesda games and the key bindings are normal and other times there are asterisks everywhere.

Never found a solution and I have encountered the same problem with almost all Bethesda's newer games.

The only thing that I found consistent was with Doom Eternal. When I started the game with windows keyboard language in English, it showed everything properly and when I started it with windows keyboard language in Greek, it showed asterisks everywhere.

Other Bethesda games weren't so consistent. It was randomly showing either the correct letters or asterisks.

Still don't know what is going on. I just make sure to turn my keyboard language to English before launching any Bethesda game and hope that it works...

I just got the same issue, same here No soultion has been Found tried to look it up but found nothing.

I dont know if anyone founded the soultion yet or still only me.

I think i just have to play the game and try Not to miss up what they want me to press.

Set your keyboard in English and then launch the game. If it's in any other language then you'll get the asterisks.
