However, this blatantly ignores the fact that in the Swiss Steam Store bundles containing both versions are available, offered for the price of one. Now, I wouldn't buy into the probable retort that this would be Valve's own, independent decision. Rather, it seems obvious to me it was either implemented alone by Bethesda or Valve and Bethesda chose this approach for the Swiss market together.
Anyhow, I'd guess Steam's Support would refer one to Bethesda and Bethesda's support would refer one to the Steam support if one wanted to press this matter...
Bethesda wants to milk the German market again and promote the new Wolfenstein game. Otherwise they wouldn't even have bothered with rereleasing it.
Or can i buy now the version which is offered in the sale and it will be the international version?
I only own the first Wolfenstein (New order) in a german version as there was a uncut patch which let me play the game uncut.
But now i want the Uncut Expierence without patching the whole thing, so it would be nice to know if theres anything i should look out for or if i can buy the version which is offered?
You can own both games/versions on the same account in case of those games; technically they are wholly separate games on Steam, with different store pages. So if you wanted, you could now buy the international version. Note though that the international versions do not feature any German translation whatsoever.
The laws have NOT changed in Germany.
2.
U can't upgrade the German edition 2 the international edition.
BTW:
Why did u buy the games in Germany?
Do NEVER EVER buy Wolfenstein games in Germany (now u can ofc).
In the past u could easily get the uncut-edition from other EU-countries.
1. This is wrong: The Wolfenstein games including Spear of Destiny have been taken off the list of banned games. Same goes for the new original releases and the versions available already. The recent releases like youngblood weren't censored at all anymore.
Games now get the same treatment as movies which could depict authentic insignia all the way.
So better get your facts straight.
I buy whichever version of games i want on STEAM dude, try lecturing someone else.
1) The laws have not changed. The ban of Nazi symbols in § 86a StGB is exactly the same as it was before, and so are its legal exemptions; the youth protection laws (JuSchG) are unaltered too. What actually happened: The state officials administrating the USK ratings have decided to revisit their blanket refusal based on a recent decision by a state prosecutor to not open up investigations in regards to the browser game Bundesfighter II Turbo; not even case law has changed as no court was involved. A USK rating is not required for a lawful release in Germany, but it’s industrial standard to apply for one, especially when it comes to retail releases, and USK ratings somewhat grant legal security. So the blanket refusal of a USK rating when it came to Nazi symbols was the reason for the de facto blanket ban in Germany, even though the games in question have actually been legal, at least for quite some time. The law’s wording doesn’t discriminate when it comes to games, movies or books at all, never has. There were just some court decisions unfavorable for games, above all from the OLG Frankfurt in 1998.
2) Wolfenstein 3D had its court ordered bans challenged and lifted recently, but they were only lifted for formal reasons. The BPjM then felt empowered to remove the game, and Spear of Destiny, from their so-called index. However, the BPjM doesn’t check for violations against § 86a StGB because of a quirk in the German youth protection system.
3) The BPjM closed investigations which might have resulted in blacklisting in regards to The New Order back in 2015 because they deemed the international versions to be in essence identical to the already USK rated one. They also explicitly refused blacklisting in regards to The New Colossus in 2018. None of MachineGames Wolfenstein games has ever been blacklisted.
Shouldn't be a biggie, I mainly want the original voiceover instead of the german dub which is annoying.
Wrong again.
Actually it is a load of BS...
If the BPJM takes a game or a movie from list A or B it has NOTHING 2 do with a change of laws.
Games still do NOT get the same treatment as movies in Germany.
German laws regarding NS-Symbols have NOT changed at all.
The key word is what we in Germany call "Sozialadäquanz".
This means:
The German rating agency USK decided 2 review Games with WWII setting & historical accurate NS-Symbols.
If they think that Sozialadäquanz can be applied they will decide if they give the game a rating in the uncut-version or not.
And it also means that other games like a new future Wolfenstein game or the old CoD games will NOT automatically get a rating from the USK or even be reviewed by them.
Each game will be treated like an INDIVIDUAL case.
This is why Post Scriptum was NOT given an USK-rating in the uncut-version.
And this is also the reason why Wolfenstein - TNO, TOB & II have been reviewed a 2nd time.
They have NOT been rated automatically when Youngblood was released.
Don't try 2 lecture a German about German laws (or in this particular case, about regulations), dude.
lol
BTW:
If u live in Germany & u only buy directly from Steam & do not get the EU PEGI retail-editions instead, u will not be able 2 get many uncut-editions.
Well,
Not my problem^^
I don't know why these ppl think that the German laws have changed...
I guess they take their knowledge from tabloids like The Sun.
lol
Plz stop talking about changes in laws or laws in general.
Again:
The laws have NOT changed.
Sozialadäquanz & the possibility of releasing uncut-versions of games with WWII setting has always been there.
USK simply refused 2 make use of it.
I am asking the Publisher to release the damn english versions thats all.
