Why is hitler alive in this game?

I've only played the Machine Games The New Order, and The Old Blood. I'm trying to get into some of the previous ones like return to castel wolfenstein, and the wolfenstein 2009 game, but that will be until further notice. I'm really interested in the story of this game and it's characters despite how cheesy and odd it is. But that's just me.
I remember seeing hitler die in one of the 8bit games, I think it was the wolfenstein 3D game. He was in a robot mecha suit. I also remember reading in a wiki that you end up assassinating hitler in one of the stealth 8bit games before the first person shooter franchises.
What's the story behind this? or are all of those just non cannon to this games story line.

This game is a direct sequel to The New Order, itself a loose sequel to Wolfenstien (2009) which is a loose sequel to Return to Castle Wolfenstien (2001) which is a remake of Castle Wolfenstien (1981). Hitler is assinated in Beyond Castle Wolfenstien (1984) niether of which are in-continuity, even loosely, with The New Order or The New Colossus.

Most players kind of assumed, and I think were meant to assume, that the alternate history of The New Order was brought about when Blazkowicz assinated Hitler prior to U.S. entry into World War II, elevating Deathshead to leader of the third reich, ultimately resulting in a Nazi victory in Europe, followed by the invasion and occupation of the United States.

That said though, even though he is conspicuously absent from The New Order, it's never explicitly stated that he is in fact dead.

There's a reference in The Old Blood (from a newspaper report in the first level, I believe) that refers to a failed attempt on Hitler's life at Castle Wolfenstein some time before you arrive there as part of the mission to retrieve the dossier on Death's Head. I interpreted that as a nod toward the events of Wolfenstein 3D being replicated in some form in the current timeline.

The way it's worded left me wondering whether the attempt wasn't successful though, with a body double, clone, or some more outlandish factor accounting for his "survival".

I'm glad he has time in between saving the world to dye his hair in between games. Or it doesn't matter, none of this matters.

I just have to comment on the over the top and somewhat jarring Hitler scene. I'm an older Jewish guy and I found the scene mildly entertaining but the whole games theatrics are way over the top as to be absurd. I think the games writers thought that in order to make the characters seem more realistic was to add an incredible over-the-top drama aspect to the NPCs. While I feel this game is partially directed to my generation, Gen X (Early 50's) and the whole acid tripping, post Hippy Black power vibe is cool, the execution is way heavy handed. Speaking of that. I absolutely can not watch the opening scenes with BJ's dog. I understand the reasoning behind it but it's too graphic and sad. Credit goes to the effectiveness though.

I especially like the character Set Roth and his performance in NO is awesome and parts of his character in NC are great as well but the scene where he goes off on BJ is just out of character and that is where NC fails with character development. I fails HARD on story continuity and editing. Also BJ has no story arc. In the military he would be a General at least by now and would take on a leadership role of some kind BUT no he just keeps on being a Nazi killing dog who actually gets dumber and more controlled by complete strangers. Weak writing. Game-play gets five stars even though it's quite repetitive. Over all this game needs a recall and some new levels added and better editing. NO was flawless in that aspect.
