What happened to multiplayer and co-op in wolfenstein?
Think it will ever make a return now that the series has?

No. Ever.

They did ask the devs about this. They said they did think about MP but decided not to include it as they believe that games turn out better when the entire team is focused on one thing (in this case the singleplayer). MachineGames as a developer also just prefer making story-driven, singleplayer focused games.

So long story short... no multiplayer.

Nah. I don't want it to have multiplayer

Co-op would be nice, but it's not fitting to be a Multiplayer. I can't imagine how it would be but a reskin for DOOM, giving Wolfenstein is also arcade-ish, but has a storyline with a lot of dialogue.

LOL return the castle woflenstein has always been my favorite for the campaign AND multiplayer. These guys know wtf they're doing. Multiplayer in this game should be a given and they are missing out by not putting it in. Another game I'll be buying when it goes on sale for 10 bucks a month after release if that. They couldve done so many things to keep multiplayer in like give themselvs more time to develop or started earlier. When you don't make time to put in what EVERYONE wants and only cater to half the audience is when I don't buy your stuff.

But RtCW was made buy two teams (Gray Matter for SP & Nerve for MP), MachineGames are just one team. Multiplayer would just be an unnecessary waste of resources.

What could it even do to stand out? The mp would probably be as dead as law breakers.

Last time we had mp it sucked

Even they could make something like RTCW's MP would be sweet to see, but generally speaking it means they'd have to put LESS focus on story driven single player which is what this new Wolfy is about

MP makes no sense here. It'd be average at best - why waste time on that.

thats what im saying. also some of these damn games are getting too expensive to just include a single player campaign that I can fly through on hard in 8 hours, needs something more. at least doom delivered a badass campaign, some form of co-op and multiplayer all in one. i made this post with return to castle wolfenstein's multiplayer in mind. I wasnt exactly blown away by the previous campaign either so i cant see co-op or multiplayer ruining singleplayer.

I even feel that the latest wolftenstein was criminally short. Reminded me of renting an xbox 360 game rather than buying because i knew id have it beat in one sitting anyway.

You can FLY through most games in a few hours. Based on the current info, to fully experience Wolfenstein 2, you will need at least three play throughs (to fully unlock all the gear) and if you search for collectibles, and you know, enjoy the game world, you will easily get more than just a few hours out of the game. Quality > Quantity.

I'm fine with a great campaign that's replayable. Why waste time on mp that no one will actually play.

I can only speak for myself here but I didn't find TNO short at all. My first playthrough: Uber difficulty, fully exploring the enviroment, killing all the enemy reinforcements, finding most of the collectibles, getting most of the perks, reading all the lore and overall just enjoying the characters and world of the game = over 16 hours. Combine that with a second playthrough to see the other timeline, try a more stealthy playstyle and getting the remaining collectibles and then further combine that with the Old Blood expansion (which took me about 8 hours) and overall I definitely got my money's worth. I expect at least the same from TNC.

Also as CzechKronner says the quality of a games content is far more important then the quantity of content. I'd much rather spend €60-€80 on a game with 10 hours of great content then a game with 100 hours of mediocre content.

Wolfenstein was always about the single player, if it had multiplayer it wasn't that popular anyway, i'm sure of that.
