Game stops responding on loads
So, this issue occurs most of the time I encounter a load in the game, whether it's because I finished a level, a cut scene, or a death.

The game will switch to the loading screen and it will load fine. The "Hit [E] to continue" prompt appears indicating that it has finished loading. I hit E and about 75% of the time the game will simply freeze but play the audio that should otherwise be playing. If I check the task manager it will say that the game is not responding.

So far I've not found a solution to this and it's frankly driving me nuts. I've tried a variety of things including updating my drivers (On the most recent Nvidia drivers), turning off the steam overlay, changing full screen to windowed, restarting my PC, deleting my saves and using the ones from the cloud, and a few other things that I can't recall at he moment.

Does anyone have any clue what could be causing this and what I can do, if anything, to fix it on my end?

Specs are:
i5 6600k
16 GB Ram
GTX 1070 8gb

I'm in the same boat, but occurs 100% of the time for me: http://steamcommunity.com/app/612880/discussions/0/1479856439047125117/

However, so far I haven't made it passed the first level yet since I keep dying, so my issue is probably also the same as yours in that it is actually due to loads and not player death per se.
Or, actually , the very first load works fine. And the load where you get to the actual first level with armor. Haven't made it further than that.

I found the solution to my problem here:

Turns out it was due to corrupted data files, and solved by doing a integrity check through Steam.

Try that!

I had the same problem of freezes during loads and level transitions. I can definitely confirm that verifying integrity fixes it.

I would like to try this but don't know how to get steam to do an integrity check. Any help with that??

You go to your library then right click on Wolfenstein 2 and select property. Under the tab local file and select verify game file integrity.

For me 2 files failed and was redownloaded gonna try the game asap

That does it. The game is working again. Since the last patch I had this issue. They could let us known that the update could corrupt some file.

thanks for the help. Had 7 bad files.

Same thing started happening to me. However numerous file integrity checks have not resolved this. Reinstalling the game hasn't either. Dropping all settings to low either. I'm stuck about 25% of the way into the storyline, it simply won't load on pressing E. I will hear audio but it won't run its full course, it will simply hang there with the loading screen still up. Task Manager saying 'Not Responding'.

Any other fixes people might have found? I rarely have issues with my rig so I rule out hardware. Besides, why would it work for numerous hours of gameplay, including the scene itself on which it is bugging, and stop working now randomly when I wish to continue?

Edit: Nvidia drivers just updated just now. No improvement from that either. I'm at a loss.
Be advised this also applies to any other saves loaded, or starting a new game. Once the video scenes pass, the game freezes and I don't see any gameplay screen.

Same thing here. Checking the file integrity does nothing.
It works sometimes, but after a couple loads the game doesn't load anymore and just freezes on the loading screen with the music of the level playing. Then you can kill the game and try again but it never works anymore, as if the game is in a "corrupted" state. The only way to restore it to a "state" where the game works again is to restart the computer, but then it only works again sometimes. It can take several reboot to finally be able to play. And if I die a couple times (like the place I am in, which is difficult), then it's back to rebooting the PC until it works again (for a little while at least....).
I updated the nvidia drivers but no luck.
I'm stumped by this problem....

Funny story: Eventually it caused a BSOD, on Windows 10....
I rebooted and relaunched the game, and steam offered to either launch it normally or in safe mode.
I launched in safe mode and it worked! The only thing that was different was that it changed the resolution from my normal 1440p to 1080p. After that, I left this resolution, and the game never crashed anymore... I have no clue why, but maybe it's due to resolution? Maybe if ppl have the problem they should try in safe mode?

I have found a solution to this same problem, you just have to change the .exe file name, from :NewColossus_x64vk.exe , to: NewColossus_x86vk.exe. you just have to replace the 64 by a 86.
you can also try with a 32, but it gave me some problems, see what work best for u.
