After checking sys requirements, it appears I need a core i7 and am currently running a core i5... got the game as a gift and never thought to check requirements
What processor exactly are you using? Also are you using the latest Nvdia drivers?
http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us
And yes, video drivers are up to date
https://ark.intel.com/products/80810/Intel-Core-i5-4690-Processor-6M-Cache-up-to-3_90-GHz
Your chip is a haswell no reason it can't run this game. People are using older chips than you to play the game. Have you disabled your intel graphics in the bios so the game will only see your 1050 ti?
FYI, I'm not original poster here, just someone else with the same issue. - the failed initialization
Have you guys made sure you have vulkan installed?
install vulkan for the nvidia cards via VulkanRT-Installer.exe which is under C:\NVIDIA\DisplayDriver\%Drivernumber%\%Winversion%\International\Display.Driver
the driver number will be the latest version you have installed on your computer. Windows version will also match your computer.
Also in your steam folder under ther game folder Wolfenstein II The New Colossus\
there's a folder called "_CommonRedist" inside that folder is Directx and vcredist
In Directx run the setup.exe to make sure your directx is update and under vcredit\2015
run the correct vc_redist choose x64 for 64bit windows and x86 for 32bit windows.
You should probably reboot after you do this to make sure the libs are all installed and loaded.
finally after 3 weeks and crash dump error (VK_ERROR_INITIALIZATION_FAILED) install new driver nvidia 388.31 and new patch game 60+ Mb and start game without error but in menu and game everything blinking and nothing can read in menu = artefacts
blinking = window mode
full screen = ok
I don't off/disable my hd GPU intel card
In medium graphics options game look ok
Only install (clean install) new driver 388.31 and new patch
Start game with steam
My laptop specs:
Intel core i5 4200H
12GB RAM
Geforce GTX 950M 2GB
Win 8.1
17.11.2017 time: 9:00AM
Further observations. Maybe it will be helpful.
In the game window mode screen flashes/blinking, in full screen not flashing but every second/third turn on the game causes artifacts in the menu and subtitles in the game.
Smoke in the game = artifacts. It does not matter if I shut down the HD intel GPU or not. The resolution I play is 720p.
Medium details - the game is smooth on my laptop but sometimes it can reduce the amount of FPS.
I installed the drivers without uninstalling the previous 388.13 I only restarted the system after installation. All previous drivers and versions of the game caused a crash dump error on startup.
In steam settings I set + r_enableAsyncCompute 0 + r_fullscreen 1 in the game launch options.
You should always use the DDU method when changing drivers or else you experience other random issues.

Get the latest version of DDU from:

Game is now playable!
Yeah I don't know why that's happening I had the problem a while back.
Hey, brother, I use an i5 7400, and it plays the game just fine. I use a GTX 970. It also ran fine on my 960 card.
You have the muscle, dude.
Anyhow, I MIGHT have a solution for you guys.
My 17 year old son had this same issue. He was able to resolve it on his 2012 Alienware m17x R3 by going into BIOS, and disabling his iGPU (The integrated GPU built into the CPU, which goes active anytime he unplugs the system from the AC).
Simply by having that 'off,' so that dedicated graphics becomes the laptop's only option, the game(s), (including Doom, when running in vulkan, which had been giving him the same issue), booted flawlessly.
Now, some desktops have the same thing - their core i5, or i7 may have an integrated graphics solution (iGPU). Try going into BIOS, turning off the integrated graphics, and using ONLY dedicated graphics solutions.
It'll suck if you have a 6 monitor set up, with two of them running off your CPU's graphics option. But, well, it is what it is. And, besides, if you're a hardcore gamer anyhow, it'll free up a bit of the ram on your motherboard. Groooovy.
Good luck, gang! Hope it helps you the way it helped my kid!
You don't get it.
The gtx 550 doesn't support vulkan.
The 500 series is NOT on the list
