Wolfstone 3D codes
Just finished the first episode of the "game within a game" WolfStone 3D. At the end it gave me a three-letter code. Judging by youtube videos, those are different for different players.

So, the question is - what is it for?

Well if I remember it correctly, in the original wolf3D there was a 3-letter code at the end of each episode.
And that code is different each time too.
What for... I've forgotten.
I guess in the old days when email wasn't so popular, maybe you could send(mail) the code to ID software and get a postcard, something like that?

In the original game it was some kind of checksum of the game time and score, to prevent fakes. Just wondered if they gave it any purpose here, or left in just to be true to the original.

there was also something about 30 missions after you finish an episode but that isn't real right??

That text is taken from the original, with corrections for the remake's setting. Each episode technically contains 10 levels (counting the secret one). The first three episodes are "happening now", and the final 3 episodes (30 level in total) are the prequel. So the text is talking about episodes 4-6

it was another aborted ID and apogee contest where you submitted your High score and the code to win a prize. Cheat programs for the game and map editors caused them to can it like the other one but the code was left ito generate the codes. http://legacy.3drealms.com/tech/wolf3d.html
Based on the Face that the codes are showing up they must have been using the source code from ver 1.0 & 1.1 for the high score board. http://www.wolfenstein3d.co.uk/faq.htm
