Please, Remove Driver Version Detection [SOLVED]

After updating to latest live game patch (Update 10/30) NVIDIA users cannot run the game with a driver version below 388.00.

Therefore, now the developers of this game force us to install and use certain versions of drivers for playing it. In my own opinion, one thing is to recommend a particular driver version but quite another is that a game try to force us to install a certain version of a display driver. Until the release of that patch I played without any issues under version 385.69, which is also one of the best last driver versions so far.

So that it does not seem justified that a specific driver is required for playing this title or any other. This should be an exclusive decision of the owners of a rig.

So, from here, I would ask the developers to reverse this situation and, although you recommend the latest Nvidia drivers, let the game run again under the driver version which has been choosen by the owner of the device.

UPDATE: Devs team share the following launch command as a provisional way to bypass 'Driver Detection':

Highlight game in Library -> right-click "Properties" -> click "Set Launch Options" - enter +r_disableDriverVersionCheck 1"

Totally agree. The game ran perfectly for me with 385.41, which is also the best recent driver for R6 Siege that doesn't cause flickering on my dual monitor setup. As an added bonus the new driver causes skybox artifacts, I'm all for issuing a recommendation but forcing it is garbage.

Wow. First time I heard that a game FORCE you to a specific driver to play a game. I understand if it only RECOMMENDS, but refusing to run unless a specific version of driver installed in the system just because they're not bothered to properly fix the game? Good job!

388.00 or the latest 388.13 is giving me worse performance on my GTX 970. Remove the driver restriction. 385.41 has more stable performance. If want to call sections of the game bombing frames on any setting other then low/medium, stable.

Thank you guys for supporting this request. Should be clear they can recommend a driver but forcing a specific version is too much.

So that if you are reading this thread and you agree with our request for disabling driver detection don't hesietate to comment here.

I hope if we're many requesting for the same, developers will listen to us and will decide to rectify on this.

lucky for me i finished the game 2 hours before the "patch" landed...
any driver higher than the one i have makes overwatch unstable

BEFORE patching I could run the game after patching it will not let me launch it due to this lame driver enforcement check! Please remove or I ask for a refund!

+1 Someone at Bethesda or Machine games should read this damn post, REMOVE THE ENFORCING ON DRIVER DETECTION. It ruined the experience for me, i cannot play the game anymore and i was playing just fine before they patched the game. What can i do now, there is no 17.10.2 for my Windows8.1 . I repeat myself, i know win8 is not good but before they patched the game i was playing it on low to medium settings very well. Now its impossible to launch the game. COMMON DEVS... Do something about this :(

There's a launch command to bypass it, posted right there.

I know it wasn't up when this thread was started but it has been there most of the day.

Maybe try reading about the thing you are planning to complain about before you complain.

Sir i wish you all the best in the world. Thank you so much for posting this. I didn't see the sticky post, maybe because i was very upset on this. I actually spent my whole day today, 12 hours now on trying to either fool the game i have the latest driver since i do have it but game thinks otherwise. I used DDU in safe mod i tried everything under the sun and i was so disapointed to the point where now its half past midnight and i was about to give up. Thank you again sir, thank you!!

Yes NeXuS23 i know you are right but when you spent the whole day like i did tryint to fix the game, i spent 12 hours today man, clean installing the driver with DDU in safe mode. Tried so many things my head hurts. That post is from 6 hours ago, so i was so upset with my whole day spent on basicaly NOTHING ofc i didn't see it... But many thanks to you and Salamand3r on giving up a bump on the post. And yes i can confirm it is WORKING.

btw i was hooked in a loop, i am on Win8.1 so there is no amd driver version 17.10.2 or 17.10.3 for win8, only for win7 lol and win10. So i was trying to fool the game i had the last driver, which i do, for win8.1 is 17.7.1 on AMD cards. Yeah.... fun today, at least you guys came to the rescue

+1 Game worked fine for me until they did that. It was either the new ♥♥♥♥♥♥ drivers [tried both 388 and 388.13] or that patch that did it

Easy wasn't meant as critique and also not specifically for you but for all that visit that thread and didn't notice the sticky yet, so it's in here too.

I also can imagine the frustration, wasn't so bad with Dishonored 2 but still frustrating too, that's why i didn't purchase this one yet which also saved me from those experiences. My backlog is too large anyway, so i can wait, also winter sale comes soon, so i will perhaps pick it then.
