With AMD cards turn GPU Culling ON. I dont think you get a option for Async Compute on or off unless you have a Nvidia Card. (Pretty sure GPU Culling set Async Compute on for AMD products.)
To bring it back you have to delete the cfg file and let the game create a new one.
Delete "Wolfenstein II The New ColossusConfig.local" start game.
This worked for me to actually launch the game , but it now crashes whenever i quit.
You're PC gamers, just look in your Settings files, you can do that
J:\Users\Uhuru N'Uru\Saved Games\MachineGames\Wolfenstein II The New Colossus\base\
Has two files
Wolfenstein II The New ColossusConfig.cfg = for Key binds, and FOV (Mine is at least)
Wolfenstein II The New ColossusConfig.local
This states in the file;
// This file is for local settings only and will not be cloud synchronized.
If you don't change any settings you get a smaller file with many settings missing.
Basically thes settings appear only when you change them.
When you disabled Async compute, an entry appeared
r_enableAsyncCompute "0"
Guess what number's used for enable
If you need a clue, it's less than 2
Issue:
- I have an NVIDIA 1050, 1060, 1070 or 1080 GPU and am running one of the 388 driver versions but run into stability issues when Alt + Tabbing, minimizing the screen or changing resolution or V-Sync settings
Workaround:
- Delete your local config file (C:\Users\Username\Saved Games\MachineGames\Wolfenstein II The New Colossus\base\Wolfenstein II The New ColossusConfig.local)
- Open Steam
- In your game library, navigate to and highlight Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus
- Right-click “Properties”
- Select “Set Launch Options”
- Enter +r_enableAsyncCompute 0
- Launch game
It's the most basic definition of modding, and I mod all games.
One of the first things I do is look at what I can change in the config files, and there's always something that you can't change in the UI. Often many things.
It's got nothing to do with whether it should be in the UI, or not.
That's never been standardised, and changes from game to game.
