"Could not write crash dump"
No idea what it means but it's preventing me from even launching. I downloaded the game 2 days ago - patched it over the last 20 minutes. I click Play and it won't even start. Window comes up and just says "Could not write crash dump". Then nothing. Tried restaring PC and nothing. Might try reloading the whole game - would prefer not to go for the 'Safe Mode' option as that to me reads 'broken game' :(. Update - Safe Mode gives the same response. Going to try reinstalling :(

1) Go to device manager... 2) expand the display adapters... 3) right click on ur graphic card and uninstall ALSO CHECK THE BOX THAT SAYS DELETE THE DRIVER SOFTWARE FOR THIS DEVICE ... 4) when finished uninstalling right click again and click update driver.

Hope it helps

We need to keep getting this info to people, I have been literally spending hours posting this fix and everything on reddit and on the discussion form and on the negative reviews about crashing. I even in my own review included the fixes I really hope people see these fixes and use them. Day one patch I guess is supposed to be 5 gb and will maybe fix these issues.

Dreadful release. Hotfix didnt work for me, have a brand new Razer laptop with gtx 1060 6GB. Fresh drivers, everything. Tried every work around I have seen on the net and still "crash dump". Probably the worst release I've seen on the PC since that Batman fiasco. The issue is something to do with rigs with Intel GPU and Geforce GPU (basically all new laptops). As of now, you have to completely disable your intel graphics every time you want to start the game. Bethesda should be ashamed.

I had the same problem, PC with GTX 750Ti card, helped using program (W10 in safe mode) Display Driver Uninstaller, I uninstalled Nvidia and Intel drivers, then reinstalled drivers 388.00 and then 388.10. The game started without a message (could not write ...)

Uninstalled Geforce experience and clicked update display drivers in device manager, in that order. Worked for me

Still happening for me.

"Update your driver."

Yes. Done. I'm using the hotfix driver.

"Disable Intel graphics."

I don't have that on my machine. I looked. Twice.

"Make sure you meet minimum requirements."

Yep. I'm near the bottom (NVIDIA GTX 780) but it should work.

"Try the beta patch."

I did. Still broken.

"Launch in safe mode and disable stuff."

Safe mode doesn't work either. The game crashes on startup. No menus. No options. No safe mode.

Game is broken. I know I'm not the only one with this problem, and I'd love it if they stopped telling me to update my driver and actually fix the dang game.

I am in the exact same situation. I'll just have to get a refund if they can't be arsed to actually release a game that works on startup.

Thanks for ruining my pc up, i had to go to my manufacturer's site and reinstall my display driver because it disappeared from device manager. Don't listen to this guy, he's trolling.

UPDATE GPU DRIVERS then right-click .exe file => properties =>Compatibility tab
1. Run the program compatibility mode in Windows 7
2. Put a check mark on: Override high dpi scaling behavior. and select Scaling performed by: "Application"
3. Run as admin

Specs: Windows 10 / 980ti SLI / i7 5820k / 32GB
