I seem to be stuck way under the floor (like out of bounds) when the game launches! Is this just a compatibility issue with the rift?

First I want to tell that this is an awesome game. I like it a lot! I have some trouble with some of the achievements though. What do I have to do to get a star on level? I can't figure out if it is time based, or route based, or how few moves you use, or what else... And I can't find the last hat. Lastly some performance feedback. It seems like a GTX 970 is not good enough. I'm constantly in reprojection and lose frames....

I don't have a VR headset, but would like to play this. Is it possible to make a version that does not require the headset?
