Is this game going to be preachy?

I like the look, I like the genre and I like the character designs, but the repeating buzzword of "oppression" as the main antagonist linked with the design choices kinda have my SJW radar buzzing.
I'm a likely buyer, but I'm not going to be preached to by a platformer. So help me out here. Is this a false alarm?

I don't know if someone already said, but still. This game is a brazillian production, Dandara was a slave who fought oppression back in the XVII Century.
All the characters seem to have all to no relation to our countrys culture. Tarsila is a good example.
So "oppression" is related to Dandaras past, see?

Its just cultural shock, hope it was insightful. Great game.

Feminism is about viewing women as having the same rights as men. Therefore a game where a woman is the lead character and is powerful is quite clearly feminist. Was also interested in the stylish presentation, until I saw the flashing "oppression", which one can't help connect as an appeal to victim cutlure - where everyone, no matter how good they have it, needs to be the center of attention.

If anything, it seems like a cheap marketing gimmick done by an underpaid/overpaid advertising intern, nothing more.

The most hateful people I've ever met are self proclaimed "anti SJWs". They waste their whole existence whining about art that fights for equality and whining about the left and they spew non factual garbage racism everywhere.

I can understand why somebody might think the trailer is virtue signalling through its word choice. Yeah, it has become a buzzword and unfortunately doesn't mean what it used to mean. However, I think the fact this was made by Brazilian developers and that it's inspired by Brazilian history settles that.

With regard to SJWs in general (talking about other games) I agree with the sentiment (earlier in this thread) that they should be able to express their own political opinions in their own video games. That doesn't mean that should we see such a game pop up, we're obliged to play it, or that we can't choose to not play it because we don't agree with the politics. Here's the difference: SJWs would choose to try to ban a game, ruin its success or even get an employee fired because they don't agree with something. As for gamers (which most SJWs are not) we just... don't play them. Having said that I rarely see "SJW games" anyway.

If you fear to somehow shape your character by consuming media, i recommend avoiding anything including basic education.
But hey, see it this way, half the people here seem to have successfully avoided education. So it isnt impossible.

People are antsy about political tone in games because of high profile titles espousing activism. Some people do not want to waste their money on subverted art/entertainment. Others are too afraid and have flimsy footing in their vantage of the world.
