Game crashes whenever I look around
SECOND BIG UPDATE:

I FIXED IT

So!

I deleted the entire game and deleted every folder you said. I then downloaded the BETA Drivers from AMD's site. Installed those instead and then redownloaded the game. It seems to work just fine without any parameters!

The folders I deleted.

C:\Users\YOUR-USERNAME-HERE\AppData\LocalLow\Eek\
C:\Users\YOUR-USERNAME-HERE\AppData\Local\Temp\Eek\
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\House Party\
C:\Users\YOUR-USERNAME-HERE\Documents\Eek\

Then delete this registry key: Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Eek\House Part

-------------------------------------

UPDATE:

So, since my gpu is kinda old, I figured I should use these

-force-feature-level-9-3
-force-feature-level-10-0
-force-feature-level-10-1
-force-feature-level-11-0

The first one (9-3) and the last one (11-0) don't do anything.

The other 2 however seem to FIX the main problem. (no noticeable difference between them) I can actually walk around the house without the game crashing

BUT

Whenever I get close to a person their model gets all messed up. It dissolves into some black line or something... If I move away from them it gets fine again.

Please help

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I start a new game, I get the loading screen, it loads and everything seems fine. Sound is fine and I get the first text box, I click it and it disappears... Then I try to look around -literally moving my mouse just a bit- it moves for a second and then it crashes...

I load the game again. I try to walk around and it crashes again (without moving my mouse). I load the game, I make a save before I do anything and it saves just fine. I move around a few steps and look around and it crashes again... I load the save file but it doesnt even gets past the loading screen.

Weird thing is that whenever the game crashes, I get a black screen and then Im thrown at my desktop, a second later it changes back to the game tab but it's not responding...

Things I've tried:

1)Disabling antivirus
2)Uninstalling old gpu drivers and installing new ones
3)Changing all the graphic settings to the lowest
4) Running it on windowed mode.
5) -force-d3d9

My specs:

CPU: i3-2100 @ 3.10Ghz
GPU: AMD Radeon 6790
RAM: 8GB

Here is my Output_log.txt

I can't paste it here so I pasted it on this site https://justpaste.it/675bs

(Dont know if there is a better way to do it...)

Hey thank you. I will take a look at this shortly. Need to eat. Been a long day :P

If you go to UserName\AppData\Local\Temp is there an \Eek folder? If so, is there a folder with crash info inside? Can you provide that?

Have you tried changing any of the quality settings in your GPU Control Panel?

What version of Windows are you using?

Can you also get me your DXDiag.exe info? More detailed instructions on how to get this and the error log mentioned above see here: https://steamcommunity.com/app/611790/discussions/1/2765630416810331763/

I am using Windows 7 64bit

1) The content from the Error txt file
https://pastebin.com/izBEn8g4

2) The content from the Output_log file

3) The content from DXDiag

I'm not sure what you mean with the GPU Control Panel? The settings there are pretty much "default" I don't really play around with these.

Thank you for like, actually responding unlike many other developers! I'm looking forward to solving this since I really don't want to refund the game!

Hey no problem! We want people to enjoy our game, but yeah if we cannot fix it within the official refund window, I'd refund if I were you. To be up front, your GPU is deemed a "legacy" card by AMD (limited-to-zero current driver support) and does not quite meet our minimum system specs, so it's important to keep those facts in mind before spending too much time troubleshooting.

By "GPU Control Panel" I mean the interface you can access for AMD or NVIDIA GPUs after right-clicking on your desktop. Should be an AMD/Catalyst-specific option. Some folks have had virtual super resolution, custom scaling options, 3D settings, etc. enabled in the past that caused issues with our game, but if the settings are all defaults, that should be fine.

I am not seeing any specific info pointing to an easy fix in your logs. Just generic errors. And if you are now able to play without crashing and are just seeing artifacts, that's an even harder fix. What may have happened is that your GPU needed to use a different DirectX version to get past some tech/shader issues that were causing a hard crash, but now due to using that DX version AND its limited VRAM pool, is not able to successfully render character models (or parts of them) as intended. In my testing, the lowest VRAM consumption I witnessed for our game was about 1250-1300MB on the lowest graphics settings, all options OFF. Your system should pull additional memory from RAM or even its paging file, but that's often not performance-friendly or even guaranteed to provide the resources an application needs in the fashion it needs it.

My top picks for troubleshooting this issue prior to opting for a refund would be as follows. First fully uninstall the game, then delete these folders if they were not already deleted:

C:\Users\YOUR-USERNAME-HERE\AppData\LocalLow\Eek\
C:\Users\YOUR-USERNAME-HERE\AppData\Local\Temp\Eek\
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\House Party\
C:\Users\YOUR-USERNAME-HERE\Documents\Eek\

Then delete this registry key: Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Eek\House Party

Then:

  • Simply close down as many apps as you can. This includes active/foreground applications as well as background processes that are not mandatory or Microsoft-provided. This includes Discord, web browsers, etc.
  • Temporarily disable any "performance optimization" or graphics management tools that may have come with your PC.
  • Ensure no applications that you still must run are using an "overlay" functionality. This can include software that monitors framerate/performance, streaming programs, and Steam itself.
  • Go into your system power options (for Windows) and change the profile and all related settings to reflect "Maximum Performance"/High Performance choices. Go into your AMD/Catalyst software and do the same, if your version has those settings.
  • Try forcing VSYNC off, then try forcing it on. You can generally do this via the AMD/Catalyst control panel.
  • Fully disable “Virtual Super Resolution” (AMD/Radeon GPUs) or Dynamic Super Resolution (NVIDIA GPUs) in your graphics card’s control panel
  • I know you already said you did, but make sure you install the latest *supported drivers* for your card from AMD. Since it is a legacy product, refer to this article: https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/faq/gpu-630
  • Make sure your desktop resolution and the resolution you're going to run the game at match
  • Disable Windows file compression ("NTFS compression"/"compress contents to save space") on all House Party folders. This includes our Steam directory, the directory in \Documents, and in AppData.

Reinstall the game. If you are running any anti-virus programs/anti-ransomware besides what Windows has built in, follow the steps in this article to add exceptions so your system has no issues interacting with our game: https://steamcommunity.com/app/611790/discussions/1/1733216261964524301/

So, a quick update. Whenever I launch the game without any parameters and it crashes I get a message saying "Amd driver stopped responding and has recovered."

I looked it up on the internet and I did the thing with the delay inside the registry but it doesn't seem to fix it...

Only way to play the game is with the directx10 parameters but then I get the weird models...

Such a weird problem...

Can you get me a copy of the output_log.txt?

Unity output log (system and GPU data, runtime messages, and errors of varying types) can be found here :
YOUR INSTALL PARTITION:\ or C:\Users\YOUR USERNAME HERE\AppData\LocalLow\Eek\House Party\output_log.txt

You can copy/paste it here, link it via a site like pastebin.com, or email it to me at erasmus@eekllc.com.
