Can't progress "Redemption" quest with Ashley

I'm having a problem with Vickie's questline/opportunities. To get Vickie to the party, I've untied Ashley's top so Madison gives me Vickie's number. I've gotten Vickie to the party now two separate times.

When I did it for the first time, I had already made up with Ashley and maxed out both relationship bars with her, so it was at "BFFS" and "LOVE". When Vickie came to the party, she told me that she's heard rumors that Ashley doesn't like me and that I have to go talk to Ashley and increase my relationship with her, and this activated the "Redemption" quest, but I couldn't do anything to progress it since I already had a perfect relationship with Ashley

The second time around, I had started a new game and planned to not make up to Ashley until I get Vickie to the party. Once Vickie arrived, she again told me to make up with Ashley and therefore it again activated the Redemption quest, but the difference this time was that I actually had a bad relationship with Ashley. I went to talk with Ashley and eventually got a perfect relationship with her again, with both relationship bars at "BFFS" and "LOVE", but it didn't complete the Redemption quest. The Redemption quest was still active as if I still had a bad relationship with Ashley

I'm pretty sure this is a bug or some sort of overlook. Is there any way for me to fix this, or something I should do differently in the game? Or is it just straight up broken?

After Vickie gives you the Redemption quest, are you able to talk to Derek and ask him about Ashley? That will start you down the path to completing that quest.
