Character walks automaticallz
Hey. I wanted to try out the game but my charakter is walking automatically forward/Left diagnonally. I have NO USB-Devices connected to the computer, besides of my Mouse and Keyboard.
My Keyboard has the english (US) Layout. There is no ThirdParty-Software running, my drivers are up to date and i have no idea what to do.
Btw.: I want to state again, that i have no Gamecontrollers/w.e. connected. 2 USB-Ports are used. Mouse and Keyboard.
In another thread the developer said, its not a issue of the game.

Since its the only fkn game I figured with that problem, i kind of dont believe him.
Is there any fix already?

It wasn't an issue with the game on, what I will presume was: Dec 25, 2017 @ 2:46pm US EST

That's not to say it isn't an issue that's our fault now. A few questions:

  1. When precisely, and under what circumstances, does the player start walking forward/left?
  2. When the player starts walking forward/left, if you alt-tab in and our of the game, then hit the 'W' and 'A' keys, does that change anything? What about if you hit 'S' to back up, or Shift to run?
  3. When the player starts walking forward/left, if you hit the 'i' key, 'F1' key, 'r' key, or 'y' keys, does the player stop? What about if you hit 'p' immediately when starting the game, or when the player is auto-walking?
  4. If you Start a New Game, and then while the game is loading, unplug your keyboard and mouse BEFORE the game world loads, what happens then? What happens when you unplug your keyboard and mouse while the character is auto-walking?

I just purchased the game and seem to be having the same issue.

To answer the questions :
1. The player is constantly trying to move forward and to the left
2. If I alt-tab, the player continues walking forward/left, even after typing W, A, S, D. Was able to write messages correctly in Alt-Tab. In-Game, pressing S and D overrides the forward/left walking
3. They all make the player stop moving forward/left, pressing P changes nothing in both instances
4. I disconnected all by USBs (Webcam, keyboard, and mouse) and disable any software related to peripherals, before, during loading, and in-game, and it didn't stop the player from moving forward/left

Hope this can help. Really wanted to try this game out but the "auto-walking" makes it very complicated

Hi, are you using 0.9.2 or version 0.8.8?

I tried on both 0.8.8 and 0.9.2. Problematic is the same

Alright. Sorry for the delay, super busy this weekend :(

So, check this link out:

Please gather the game logs for me, even including an in-game debug log (you must use 0.9.2 to use the "Save to Log" feature after hitting F5 in-game) and the DirectX/DXDiag log. Then, e-mail these to me at erasmus@eekllc.com.

Ok, so as I was playing around to get the logs, at one point, I went to speak to Derek, while crouched, and that seemed to have temporarily stopped the automatic movement, but started again not long after.

I have sent you all the logs I was able to get a hand on, many folders that you directed to were empty.

Hope this will help!

Got them, thank you!

I also have the same issue, I thought it had to do with my joystick and rudder pedals but after unplugging both from my machine my character still wants to walk without any command to do so.

UPDATE--I restarted the game again and problem is gone but I'm still fairly certain the whole issue came from the pedals. Maybe have an in game option to disable any detected controllers?

Yeah we can look into that. It would probably be part of a larger control/device-support improvement initiative, as soon as we can get to it.

Same issue, maybe I should try disconnecting some devices.
EDIT: disconnected everything except mouse and keyboard, same thing. You can't stop moving, when pressing right you go right, but when you let go of right you go left again. Same deal with forward and backward.

Are you using a laptop? Did you try rebooting AFTER unplugging everything, and then running the game again?

Do you have any software still running that controlled any additional peripherals that were connected? Or, do you have any mouse/keyboard software running that makes use of macros or Windows accessibility options?
Hyper Sonic May 16, 2018 @ 7:52am
Desktop. I didn't the first time, I tried it again this time rebooting after disconnecting, same thing.

Alright, going to task manager and shutting down all 3DMouse driver software fixed it, so that was the culprit. Hmm, maybe next time I'll try just shutting down the drivers but leave the hardware connected, I'll get back to this thread with the results. Thanks!

BTW, does this game support controllers such as 3DMice and joysticks?

OK ya I can keep the 3DMouse hardware connected, just need to shutdown 3dxservice in the taskmanager. I actually have a 3DMouse and Joystick, I just realized that I can use the joystick to move in the game, though I don't have variable movement control, just 8 direction on/off control.

I also always get this auto walking problem, but mine is solved by turning on my wireless xbox joypad before starting the game.
Rather annoying, I hope a fix will come soon.

I've seen these before but never actually considered that they'd come up with the game...oops! We do not have any built-in support for such devices.

We're going to look into moving away from Unity control defaults to give more precise control to players in the future.
