the icon for mouse is gone
the little icon that directs what you see and interact with has disappeared

Hit the Tab key. That will toggle the little crosshair on or off, in addition to other UI elements.

Press F1 at any time if you need to reference the controls again.

Edit: if you used the 'crosshair' console command, let me know.
