Not going to argue about how stupid your comment is...
(Please don't misinterpret this post as being anti-trans or transphobic. I'm neither of those things. Just don't want it in this game.)
I would just like to know where your insight on how a community vote would go comes from. This thread has certainly seen way more positive replies than I expected. Introducing a trans character may not have a simple majority of support but looking at replies here, there's certainly enough interest to justify including one character in office party.
As far as achievements go (this is directed to an earlier post, not the quoted one), there are characters in the game now whose achievements don't necessarily require you to interact sexually. If the problem is that you can't bring yourself to play a storyline featuring a trans character after some of the things you have to do to get achievements in house party, well I honestly don't know what to tell you.
My only concern, and piggybacking off the idea that there's "a time and place in media for trans characters", is that they'll be written as "the trans character" rather than a character who is trans.
The point is the inclusion of a character like that would be based more on the level of interest than disinterest because general disinterest and outright disdain from most people seems to be a given when you're trans.
The trans community is ~0.6% of the population, which statistically means that ~200 people need to be at this party before the arrival of just 1 trans person (who themselves will be statistically most likely to be pre-op in their physical biology).
While the pornstar (Vickie) and celebs (Grumps) are also statistically unlikely to be included in the party, they all ended up there despite the odds odds specifically because the player-character and other party guests coerced them into being there by engaging in lies and collaborative subterfuge.
I think the addition of a trans character to the house party is statistically unbelievable;
I believe any potential inclusive of trans in this particular game will not age well (regardless of how well handled), especially because societal discussions of trans, community understanding of trans, and medical research into trans psychology is still in its infancy;
I believe inclusion of trans will be perceived as opportunistic political pandering, while concurrently potentially devaluing trans people into props;
I find this game contains no character motivation (by either the player-character or any other guest) that would realistically (or even surrealistically) justify coercing a trans person to attend the party; and,
As a comedic game that by its nature horrifically abuses every character, I find it unfunny and morally reprehensible to make canon that it's okay to use lies and subterfuge against what will without question be seen as the "token" representative of an already marginalized group.
The game is great, but it can't be all things to all people. It's also not a kink fest that can satisfy every sexual fantasy (otherwise I'd be suggesting all kinds of things). The game is surprisingly story and character driven; and, at a certain point it inevitably maxes out on what it can accomplish before diminishing itself. I believe the addition of a trans character will both diminish the game and diminish the trans community. The devs would be wise to avoid.
Well said.
Sometime a line need to be made, to define what kind of a game this is. Otherwise all kind of content is injected into the game, and instead of becoming a deep, engaging story and game, it will be a shallow, blend and bleak game where a character/NPC is put there just for the sake of it,her,she, their, or they being there? Like, if trans is being put into the game, why stop there? Put also the PC sister, or brother or cousin inside and let them engage in a sexual pursuit or story arc. I mean, that the trend now in the porn industry right? and they certainly know what kind of sexual fantasy the current people want right?
right...?
And ? Who said I wanted to be woman ? I am not trans. But will you have respect for others or will you always be insecured about yourself ?
Don't play the dumb card we all know why he is being a jerk...
