Sibling Rivalry Closet issue
When I try to get into the closet before Derek and Madison get in the room, I cannot squeeze through with one door open, and opening both makes it damn near impossible to remain undected. Advice?

Hmmm, can't recall but I am pretty sure you can open the closet doors beforehand so that all you need to do is get in quick and close it. I could be wrong though, maybe Ashley and Vickie close it when they go in.

Are you on a controller or mouse and keyboard? If controller I might suggest turning up sensitivity on it so you can move quicker for that part.

It can be a bit tricky due to pathfinding and collision issues. Additionally, saving and reloading can disrupt the pathfinding. You may need to go back to an earlier save so that you have more time to close both doors. Here's what I did:

1. After talking to Vickie and Ashley and deciding that Derek should be "the one", wait until Derek is not in the vicinity of Madison. Ideally Madison would sit in the gazebo while Derek is somewhere in the house. Save the game, then talk to Derek.

2. After your conversation with Derek, Ashley and Vickie will start moving. You can actually follow them around to see where they go and if they both find the way into the closet. Derek will go to Madison, but the plot will not advance until you're in their vicinity to hear them talking.

3. Go outside, but stay as close to the sliding glass door as you can. Tiptoe forward until you trigger the conversation between Derek and Madison. As soon as it ends, run into Madison's bedroom. Ashley and Vickie should both be inside the closet at that point. Open the left closet door to get in, then close both doors.

If it doesn't work, reload the save from step (1) and try again. You may need several attempts. Don't try to load a save from a point after step (1), because then you may run into a situation where the pathfinding gets disrupted and Vickie doesn't find the way into the closet. Depending on when you save and where Ashley or Vickie are at that point, it's even possible to have Derek enter the bedroom before the girls arrive there.

I am on keyboard, and when I open both doors, I do not have enough time to close them before Derek and Madison arrive.

Thanks for the advice. My biggest issue is that NPCs who spend most of their time in one room for some reason decide that the best place to be at that moment is ON THE STAIRS so I can't get through them.

The Dev's responded to this issue in the bug reports thread. It's being worked on.

You are not doing anything wrong. What's happening is that when NPCs are off screen enough/out of camera they are occluded. When this occurs we take steps to reduce how much impact their existence has on the game's performance. One of these steps is to simplify their motion.

Well, oops. Turns out that when we're doing this, they move faster than they would if they were NOT occluded and being driven by normal motion + animation control. Also turns out they are no longer encumbered by obstacles and other things that would impede them if they were visible.

This change occurred somewhat recently. Looking into fixing it

Thanks. I gave up on the opportunity out of frustration lmao. Do you know of any guides for Frank's "The Penis Games" opportunity? I just started it and wanna get it done lol.

UPDATE: I gave in and used console commands to unlock her bedroom door from inside the closet. I hope there wasn't an achievement for that opportunity lol.
rtr7372 Aug 22, 2021 @ 12:36pm
There is an achievement: Ashley

Looking back at this, they did slightly change a few things on this part that I recall (though minor if so). Says to eavesdrop Madi and Derek while they talk by the gazebo, then says to quickly run upstairs to master bedroom, approach Ashley (recommend skipping the convo quick to end it fast), get in closet and close the doors.

Damnit. Ah, well, that achievement wasn't worth the hassle. I couldn't get up the stairs and into the closet and close the doors before they got into the room without locking the bedroom door, and then unlocking it from the closet using console commands.

The conversation for Madison and Derek going to the bedroom won't start until you get close to them, so make sure Ashley and Vickie are in the closet before you activate that conversation.
